With the stresses of finishing district, weather, playoffs or not playoffs, lets take the foot of the brakes in this one.
Question: What is the craziest game you have either played in or watched.?
Posted on girls site too.
My picks: Circa 1987, New Years Day, Portsmouth at home to Fulham. PFC notorious for dipping in form come Christmas time, far too may pubs in that city. Half time winning 4-0. Full time whistle, 4-4. Fast forward to May, and they miss promotion by goal difference!
Coaching: Likely last years quarter finals with Sam Houston 0-0 all the way thru double OT and the two 5 mins OT, then to PKS. Every single player left it all on the field, and was so impressed that so many non soccer people, you know FB and BB coaches and the like, said how it was such an enthralling game even with no goals
And in keeping with Saints fervor, here's my all-time classic football score. The middle school where i teach won against local rivals, 3-2. yes, this is American football! Funny, the points all scored by quarterback Tyler Melancon, who now plys his soccer trade at Temple. This is MS FB, so hard to score points. He takes the field goal. Game then turns into a defensive stalemate and his team finds themselves pinned on their own 3 yd line late on, so coaches decide to let him give up the safety on purpose so they can get the ball at least to the 20 yd line to kick away! Classic.

My picks...
- World Cup 1986 in Mexico where Belgium beat U.S.S.R. 4-3 in the round of 16... then beat Spain on PKs 5-4 (1-1 end of regulation) to make it to the semis (loss to Argentina of Diego Maradona 2-0). I was kid but I'll remember those moments all my life!!
- Playoff game of 2006 Opelousas @ EA / regional game... Opelousas shocked the Spartans by scoring in the first 3 minutes on a quick and lethal counter attack. After that Opelousas went into defensive mode: 8 to 9 players in front of the 18... and even when EA tried to drive the ball back in order to spread Opelousas and create some space up front, they did not move!! EA tied with 86 seconds left into the game............................. the game went in OT where EA scored 3 goals! I think it was the most stressful game I ever coached!!!!

Its no HS but.....
Happened this fall between my U11 Tsunami team and Lafayette Drillers in the Crossroads cup in Alexandria. We played Lafayette in bracket play, where they got up on us 3-0 fifteen minutes into the game. We hung in though and knocked in one right before half tp make it 3-1. Second half was all us and we scored 2 more to tie it and then missed a sitter at the very end that would have won it for us. real proud of our kids for staying strong Game finished 3-3. Now, we get to the crazy part-- We and Lafayette both win the restof our games and semi and then get back into the finals. Laffy scores first, then we come back to go up 3-1. Laffy scores halfway through the second half to bring it to 3-2, and our GK (my son)gets hurt on the play. Last 15 minutes go back and forthwith both teams getting chances. Lafayette wins a corner with 20 seconds left, hits it into the middle, and it gets kicked in with maybe 5 seconds left to tie 3-3. Our backup keeper gets hurt, so he has to come out, and my son goes back in. Two ten minute OTS and no goals so we go to pks. My guys go up to the spot and nail 4 straight like they were sitting down to eat lunch, Laffy makes the first, misses the second, makes the third, and then my son makes a save on the forth. Pk 4-2 to tsunami. Great game between two really solid teams.
Heys its young kids, but it was awesome!

Our U12 team was playing a select tournament in Pensascola. I forgot the name of the tournament but anyway, we played the first two games in our bracket on a Friday and tied one and lost one. Going in to the next game, the weather became so bad that the only way to decide who would advance was to have a PK contest between the two teams. Me and a few other kids on our team were chosen to shoot. It was even 3-3 and our next player missed thier kick and it was my turn to shoot. I was just 12 years old and the only thing i could think about was how everyone was going to kill me if i missed it. But it turns out as fate has it i made it and our team went on to win the game and the tournament. It was awesome. Our coach then is now one of the coaches at Episcobal, Coach Mike if any of you know him.
