The much maligned LHSSCA (LA High School Soccer Coaches Asso) had a banner day today. Thru the hard! work of a handfull of people (one in particular) the LHSSCA has slowly been making progress, under the radar this year.
As of today the LHSSCA has been officially recognized by the Executive Committee of the LHSAA and the LHSCA (coaches asso). This is a huge hurdle that has cleared the way for our association to begin putting into practice the many wonderful things that high school soccer people have been talking about for 20 years.
We now have a seat at the table and received lots of positive feedback about the possibilities of what we could now expect and be able to do, by being an official organization in the eyes of the LHSAA.
A lot of things have been put on the backburner this season in an effort to get this one objective accomplished. I was amazed as I personally saw Tommy Henry tell the executive committee of the progress that our sport had made in high school athletics and encourage them to recognize our association. I am making the assumption that this is the first time out sport has been put in a positive light at an LHSSA meeting.
Doug Hamiliton of Vandebilt Catholic needs to be personally thanked for his hard work and dedication. As our president this year he singlehandedly did 90% of the work necessary to make this happen.
Coaches, it is now time to get involved and do our part.

Finally! Thanks to all who did the work for this.
Will there be a coaches poll? Frankly, I think this website does a superb job, but you never know if we will have the same participation next year.
What about SEEDINGS like in football, so the number 32 team plays number 1, and so forth. Did volleyball go to this system this year?
And an All-star game, please.

Those are all issues that we will be addressing in the next year. The LHSAA has given us encouragment on all of those issues. We now need as many coaches to get involved as possible.

This is probably the most important story in the past 20 years for high school soccer in this state. Well done.
