Div I District 1 Winner Caddo Magnet draws Lafayette 14.14 power rating Runner-up Shreve draws West Monroe 8.42 power rating
I know the bracketers don't look at power ratings, but my gosh, do they look at anything?
How soon can high school soccer get more responsible people to work on these brackets?

Most of the brackets are pre determined from year ro year. It is this way in all sports except football that uses power rankings.

It was my understanding that volleyball moved to power rankings a few years ago....it takes the determination of several people and action from a lot of coaches to make changes....so it is possible....but simply whining on a board that NO ONE reads, BUT a handful of people involved in high school soccer will affect no change. The first step happened a few days ago...the coach's association was recognized by the LHSAA...so that's a positive step.

Lafayette will play anyone anywhere, BUT if you look at the matchups, no one has to travel more than I would say a ballpark estimate (no pun intended) of 80 miles EXCEPT Lafayette who has to go over 200 miles. I'm not complaining or paranoid, the team could have solved this problem by winning last night, I'll admit. However, I find it funny that "geographics" has played to our disadvantage. Granted, it was probably between us and Comeaux to trek up north. However, LHSAA sent us and not them.

I don't understand this: Neville, a third place team in our district, gets a bye in the first round, yet Loyola, a second place team in our district, has to play Leesville. How does that happen? Not cracking down on Neville, just wondering why they decided to do it that way. Shouldn't they have given Leesville the game against Neville and Loyola a bye to the next round playing either Haughton or Opelousas?
Another question: Is the home team on top or bottom this year?

I don't know if West Monroe deserves a playoff match, but we're happy to just get another day to play soccer. I think we should be playing Caddo though and Laffy should be at Capt Shreve. That doesn't make sense. Also look at the rest of our district. Ruston, the winner plays the Shreveport number 3 Byrd while Ouachita, #2 plays Shreveport #4 Airline. There's no rhyme or reason to this bracket. The worst is the Neville / Loyola bye fiasco. I know complaining on this board won't help. Hopefully the coach's association can get involved somehow in the future. Then again, if they were this year, I'd be putting our unis in storage right now.

What is going on with the play-offs??? I look around the brackets and it just doesn't seem right. Even Bolton (who only placed 3rd in their district) are not there? And they beat some of the teams that made it. Then I look at the girls bracket and see that Bolton are there and the Bolton girls didn't even win a district game (nothing against the Bolton Girls)!! Then there's Neville who placed 3rd in their district and didn't have a great year and they're IN??? If this is the way it is going to be every year would it not be easier to just have an end of season tournament and let anyone in who wants to go in play and have it over the course of 2 weekends. It seems to be a better way to deal with it as the LHSAA obviously don't know who to decide who really deserves to be in the play-offs (even with all those wild-cards). To be quite honest they should except only 16 teams in each division that are the top 2 in each district and if need be the team with the next best over-all record then this problem wouldn't arise. BUT TO ALLOW A TEAM WITHOUT A DISTRICT WIN - WHY EVEN PLAY THE GAME!!

And then I forgot to mention on the Neville game that they get a BYE for coming 3rd.
What is going on here?
Why not let the Shellshockers get a bye all the way through to the US Open Cup final where they can play the Houston Dynamo's. I'll go to that game? But is it RIGHT?

You may remember last year the Northside Vikings Girls' team didn't win a game (I think they may not have even scored a goal) yet made it to the playoffs and won their first game of the season in the first round of the playoffs!

I guess no underdog should ever be able to take the field against a highly-favored opponent then. Just limit all soccer matches to the really good teams playing each other. If that were the case, then these teams with 15-25 wins each season would be 8 - 8 at the end of the year.
