Once again LHSAA never ceases to amaze!!!
Either BM or Fontainebleau will not make it past the first round when teams like Holy Cross or Bonnabel will. Go figure. BM actually tied for 2nd in an extremely tough district but due to some idiot coaches deciding that a coin toss is more suitable than a point differential or a playoff game in deciding the 2nd seed. A coin toss proves nothing and this decision should be settled on the field.
LHSAA needs to take a closer look because geographics could have just as easily put BM against Bonnebel, a 2nd place seed, and Holy Cross being absolute 32nd up against a 1st place seed at Fontainebleau.
Makes no sense at all!!

My prediction : Quarters: Caddo v Carencro BM v Jesuit Acadiana v Shreve Grace K v Rummell Semis: Caddo v Jesuit Shreve v Rummel Finals: Caddo v Shreve that way it would save a lotta travel to the south teams and everyone will be happy ! :-) shreve will not make it to the finals, they'll probly win against wm but loose to catholic br.

How do they determine who has home field after the first round is played? is it by record? I think that whoever traveled last is home team for that match. If both traveled last, this year the team on the bottom travels. Can anyone confirm this? Pretty much correct: 1. Who traveled last. 2. If equal, who has traveled most. 3. If equal, bottom team travels this year.

I've been thinking about what wmrebsoccer says here and some other remarks about how as long as Lafayette is travelling, we could just as easily have had exactly the same travel distance AND a more logical first-round matchups if we would play Capt. Shreve and WM play Caddo. Switching these two games would have put us on the bottom of the bracket, leaving open the possibility of a Lafayette/Jesuit final. Note that I said possibility, I am only hypothesizing here. Who would believe, if you believe LHSAA actually cares about this, that LHSAA would even entertain the possibility of a Lafayette/Jesuit final? Someone else noted too that the top half of the bracket is "loaded". It seems to me that this is to Jesuit's advantage also. Again, I am not trying to be paranoid, even though I think I have every right to be, but I think I might see some rhyme and reason to why the DI bracket fell the way it did. It did kind of make me go, "Huuummmm". You guys down south are amazing. Believe it or not, soccer is played north of Alexandria. Shreveport has alot of talented schools. Shreve has been going down south for the past 4 or 5 years with alot of success. Caddo is having a great season this year, including a fine showing in the St. Pauls Tournament. So Lafayette has to drive 200 miles to play. Welcome to the club. Shreveport teams have been traveling down south for years and you don't hear us crying about it. Lafayette, you need to focus on Caddo and not worry about the miles you have to drive, if not you may be playing your last game of the year. I am sorry if I did not make my point clear enough. I was merely commenting on the fact that with all of the "geographic" arguments bantered about to justify this playoff bracket, we seem to have been singled out. I reiterate my previous statements by saying we could have avoided this situation by winning last night and by repeating that Lafayette will play anyone anywhere. I have no problem per se with driving 400 miles round trip for a soccer game. For our select team, that is practically a home game! And of course I am well aware that soccer exists on the other end of I-49. I have looked at Caddo's record and am duly and sincerely impressed. Congratulations on a great season. But just as others have echoed the sentiment, I too have problems with the manner in which these games have been determined. I know the boys are not underestimating them.

I am new to this seeding business, but am guessing that if there were any leeway to how teams are seeded, then that opens the door to massive criticism, so even if it better/fairer matchups in the first round are intuitively obvious to the causual observer, then it will not happen. That is also assuming that the brackets are clearly established in advance, change randomly from year to year, and have no room for "shenanigans". In LA that may be a tall order <grin>, but the bottom line is "win or go home", so GAME ON! The best team will still win state.

Makes no sense at all!! I dont think they even care. Because, how would you put the #1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 place teams in one half of the bracket. The bottom bracket is extremely weak. I'm actually picking Shreve to get to the semis this year because if they travel to Catholic BR and win, they'll have Acadiana at home and I'm picking them winning on their turf. I think Lafayette, Brother Martin, and Carencro should be in the bottom bracket to make it a little bit more even. I honestly say we take two good teams playing other teams in the top bracket and just switch them to the bottom for two other games. I mean, they will still play the same opponent, just equal and fair advantages within the playoffs atleast.
