As many of you are aware of, I have been working on "Power Ratings" this year, thanks to coachray40, putmeincoach2, and others reporting results. While many games didn't get reported, top DI teams reported most of their results. I made up hypothetical playoff brackets if they follow Power Ratings. All of 1st and 2nd place teams in each district were in Top 32, by the way. Needless to say, it's more fair, but it involves some travels and intra-district games.
1 17.99 Jesuit (1) 32 9.58 Baton Rouge (1)
16 11.89 Ouachita (1) 17 11.85 St. Amant (1)
8 13.71 Rummel (1) 25 10.85 Airline (1)
9 13.70 Catholic (1) 24 10.85 S. Terrebonne (1) -- 5 14.39 Brother Martin (1) 28 10.27 Hahnville (1)
12 13.36 C Lafourches(1) 21 11.08 Grace King (1)
4 14.68 Caddo (1) 29 10.07 Northshore (1)
13 13.00 St. Paul's (1) 20 11.12 Ponchatoula (1) -- 30 10.00 Bonnabel (1) 3 15.07 Carencro (1)
14 12.41 Woodlawn (1) 19 11.17 Mandeville (1)
6 13.89 Shreve (1) 27 10.38 Sulphur (1)
11 13.39 Acadiana (1) 22 10.93 C. E. Byrd (1) -- 7 13.79 Lafayette (1) 26 10.53 Comeaux (1)
10 13.47 Ruston (1) 23 10.89 East St. John (1)
15 12.27 Dutchtown (1) 18 11.55 Terrebonne (1)
31 9.67 NISH (1) 2 15.17 Fountainebleau (1)
The following teams would miss the playoffs. 33 9.19 Destrehan (1) 34 8.93 Slidell (1) 35 8.69 Covington (1) 36 8.64 West Jefferson (1) 37 8.17 West Monroe (1) 38 7.99 Hammond (1) 39 7.97 S. Lafourche (1) 40 7.82 Barbe (1) 41 7.62 Thibodaux (1) 42 7.15 H. L. Bourgeois (1)

I just realized that the Top 5 teams in Power Ratings (Jusuit, Fountainebleau, Carencro, Caddo, BM) are all in the top half this year....

Confirms my initial thoughts on the significant difference between the top and bottom halves of the bracket. To me, 6 teams in the top half are a step above the others, whereas only 3 in the bottom. Winner of the top will be favored in the finals, but that often means nothing in the championship game.

flat3 not sure how you did it but i like your playoff bracket much more. I think everyone would enjoy the playoffs this year a lot more if it were set up this way. Nice work and good luck to all the teams

My rankings spit out almost the same information as yours flat3... the only real big difference is that Byrd is ranked much higher for some reason! Everyone else is at about the same rank!

This is good news. It indicates that REGARDLESS OF THE METHOD, we would end up similar rankings. If someone in LHSSCA wants to bring the Power Ratings of mine or brhsoccer14's to LHSAA for a playoff purpose, please PM me. There are some hurdles (how we make all results reported, to whom they are reported, and who calculates the rankings), but it can be done if we want.
