Can someone explain to me the process of choosing the All- District 1st team and All-District 2nd team? How are the names put forth, decided on etc. I realized tonight when I was talking to someone about it, that I didn't really know how it's all done.

Rules are different in some districts, but here's the general rundown:
There are a specified # of spots for each position; say 3 forwards, 4 defenders, 1 keeper, 4 midfielders for both 1st and 2nd team (so 12 players per team). A coach is able to nominate as many players as there are available slots at each position.
Coaches nominate/make a case for certain players to be on 1st team based on ability/stats/etc.
Coaches then vote for players (not their own) to make 1st team. In the case of forwards, the top 3 vote-getters would be 1st team, then the next 3 highest vote-getters are second team. In the case of a tie for two players to get 1st team with one slot left, neutral coaches vote for those players and the winner goes to 1st team and the other player to the 2nd team.
Then MVP's are nominated/voted on from the first team. Some districts have rules that MVP's cannot have had more than X-number of yellow/red cards during district.
Honorable mention varies by district. Only district info should be considered relevant for selections/votes, not the overall season.
