jesuit beat bonnabel 2-0 at joe yenni stadium near my house(in metairie, i moved there after the hurricane)
i just wanted to see what we(chalmette) might be up against starting next year
no wonder they're #3 in the country. their defenders and midfielders closed fast to every ball, and their goalkeeper wasn't tested the whole game. if there's any weak spot(and i'm being picky), they missed lots of very easy chances(maybe because bonnabel packed 6 defenders on the back line), but they got two of them home. for contrast, bonnabel didn't have a single good chance the entire game. i counted 33 on jesuit's roster, bonnabel only fielded 12
jesuit scored one goal in the first half and had another bounce luckily over the bonnabel keeper's head. they also thought a ball very early in the game went through the netting, and the ref came over and looked, but he decided goal kick bonnabel.
you know, i kind of feel sorry for their fans sometimes(and john curtis football, and other programs like that). it has to be tough to root for them knowing that they're expected to win EVERY single time. now granted i think jesuit is a more legit school and program than john curtis, but their fans didn't seem too happy after the game for making the state quarterfinals, unlike chalmette fans who rushed the field after we beat morgan city in round one. maybe it's the price of success on a huge scale. i imagine the jesuit goalkeeper must get tested in practice.
next up for jesuit is brother martin whom if i remember correctly may have scored on jesuit earlier this season
