Micah Peters scores Golden Goal in 3rd OT.
Sounded like a physical contest with sleet sometimes coming down in Monroe. St. Freds scored first and it was 1-0 at half. UHigh tied it very late in the 2nd half on a PK -- possibly in stoppage time. Taylor Schneider with the PK. Some type of foul in the box -- maybe a hand ball.
I believe last regular season poll at St. Freds #5 and UHigh #8. Not counting the goalie, UHigh generally plays with 3 seniors (two in the back) and 5 sophmores and two freshman so hopefully this is something for the Cubs to grow on.
I believe this was only 3rd loss of season for St. Freds. Tough loss for sure. Good luck Cubs against St. Louis.

Good game between both teams, but 70 year old men dont need to be the center ref for a high school game. Officiated wasnt very good for either team blown calls both ways...

Hey Mr. Bish -- care to update your post from last week? University lost everybody from last year, and they weren't even that good last year. I don't see them getting passed the quarters. They'd be lucky to get there. Why do people find it necessary to rag on someone when they dont predict a game right?

I'm sorry I hurt your feelings so I deleted it. Mr. Bish went beyond "prediction" and was "ragging" on the quality of UHigh's team, which was obviously inaccurate.

It was a great game to watch (of course, UHS winning makes it better ). It was a physical, but well-fought game between two equally matched up teams. Shot counts were nearly equal, as follows (1st, 2nd, OT1, OT2, OT3). University -- 9, 12, 2, 2, 1 St. Freds --- 9, 9, 6, 0, 0 St. Freds' first goal (10 min into the game) was pretty. They got a free kick 35 yards out in the left hand side. The ball went straight to an open SFHS player who deflected it by a header, 1-0 Warriors. St. Freds had another big chance in the first half, but one of their players hit an open shot to the left goal post. The game probably would have been over if he made this shot. In the second half, UHS' Gregory Shaw had a close range shot from the left hand side which was denied by the goal post. Chris Williams took a shot with a 30 yard free kick, the rebound of which William Major almost converted. The Cubs just couldn't score. With the time running out, UHS finally got a break. One of the SFHS players was called a handball inside the box. One of the senior captains, Taylor Schneider, converted it to the right corner of the net. After playing behind for nearly 70 minutes, the Cubs tied the game with only one minute left. Two ten-minute overtime periods went scoreless with neither team building much attack. We were in a sudden-death five minute overtime. Williams stole the ball in the UHS territory. He crossed a long ball to Micah Peters on the right hand side. Peters dribbled in, got past one player, and nailed an eight yarder to the left side of the net. Game Over. St. Freds was good, but a lucky break came to UHS at the end of the regulation. UHS started to win most air balls in the second half, and it hurt St. Freds. Playing a tough schedule pays its dividend at the end for the Cubs.
