Just Curious to what everyone thinks. Since a couple Cenla teams are making a good run of the Playoffs this season.

Yes. I think the past two years have shown an increase in the advancement of soccer in Central Louisiana. This year in Division two, three of the eight teams are from Central LA. Our turnout in the playoffs last year was decent as well. In Division III, Menard is making a good run this year. The head and former head of the Crossroads recreational club have helped advance soccer in CENLA tremendously, and are adding to that success with the advancement of a D1 club team. It will be exciting to see the progress in the next couple of years.

yes high school soccer has made some improvement in Cenla but IMHO it has aways to go. When we start seeing 90% of all high school players also playing club soccer and all coaches and assistant coaches coming from a club soccer structure with National D and C licenses then Cenla will turn heads. As it is the improvement are scattered across several schools. However, keep an eye on the new division one teams @ crossroads. I think great things will happen there this spring!!

cenla soccer has definitely improved throughout the last few years. ash, pineville, menard, and bolton had playoff seasons this year. coincidentally; ash, pineville, and menard are all still in the playoffs. bolton had some problems with their paperwork that disallowed them a playoff bid, despite their 3rd place ranking in district, while going 6-4 in district losing to only the1st and 2nd place teams (OC, Menard)

No is reffering to no gains being met. Just about the same means it's rising .. but not at a segnificant pace to compete.

There is no doubt that the improvement is a direct reflection on what is going on at the Crossroads Soccer Association. They are by far the most improved club in the State and I have just read something very interesting on their website that was said by State Coaching Director, Luis Sabillon. Check it out at www.crossroads-soccer.comAnd with the start of their new Division I program we will see how far they have really come. Look out for Crossroads teams this year.

the same can be said about soccer anywhere in the state, that it has a ways to go. Until we see about 50% or more soccer players (i dunno the current numbers but i'm going to assume it's not over that), but until we see 50% or more going to play college ball or some other level above highschool, the entire state has a ways to go, I think soccer here in Cenla has improved by leaps and bounds but when you look at the other areas that the good teams are coming from, they are usually all concentrated in areas like lafayette, baton rouge, and new orleans. The good thing about Crossroads Soccer is it's pulling in players from places like deridder, marksville, areas that otherwise wouldn't have programs. And I'm not talking about Premier type stuff where you pay huge amounts to play and have to drive maybe 3-4 hours for practices, but I think you get my point. It's growing and covering a larger area then ever before and with the more coaches getting better instructions and teaching, there's a better chance they can pass their knowledge through to more players to help them improve the overall standard here.

doesnt matter if they always make the playoffs... do they win state?......noooope What a great thing to say. You obviously know the game well. I suppose Man United are just mediocre as they haven't won the Premiership for a few years and maybe Chelsea aren't too good as they may not win this year and as for Arsenal well they must be a very poor team. Then there's AC Milan who are middle of the table - I guess not a good team. I think enough said as there are plenty of teams out there that just don't win, but does that mean they are no good - very narrow minded!

lafutbolplaya07 I have to disagree with you. St. Thomas More got eliminated already, making them one of the mediocre teams in D2. Obviously the soccer up here in Cenla must be better than the soccer in lafayette considering more teams in D2 are from here then down there.....
just kidding. I agree that's a stupid thing to say. What if a team with a 2-10 record beats a team with a 10-0 record. Does that mean they're a better team oscameyerweiner? Or does it mean they played better on that particular day. Winning state doesn't say much about a team unless they've really had to grind through the playoffs, but I say that if a team like Vandy wins state and won all their playoff games 5-0 or more, that doesn't exactly mean they're a good team but that maybe they didn't face any good opposition. Take into account any possibilities and then make that statement again.
