As we build up to the big final in Shreveport, I think we need to start working on a support group to ease the withdrawal pains once the high school season is in the books.

haha...seriously though...I've been to 5-6 games since my team was eliminated and I'll be in Lafayette on Friday for the Jesuit/Carencro game and probably somewhere on Saturday as well....withdrawal will come quickly in a week.

I leave to go out of town for a week the day of the finals, and will have a hard problem getting those scores while on the road...

withdrawal? Dont have time for that--start U11 and U6 practice next Wednesday. Been playing catchup with work, yard, rest, and Mrs., but that over in less than a week.
There is no end to the season, just a beginning of the next one.

That's correct...nothing like high school soccer...I'll be coaching U13s...a middle school team in a month...playing mens...chasing kids around....but there still is nothing like high school soccer...just something about the "school based" community part of it that gives it some ZEST.

Because the games in high school mean something? Meaning, you actually have something to compete for... a state championship, pride, etc. Whereas in my men's league it's kind of on a game to game basis rather than striving for a goal at the end of the season like you do in high school. I know, I played in both. : p

Gee, thanks for that profound insight, sappy. I don't know how I managed to live 47 years, stay married to the same beautiful woman for 25 years, raise three handsome and bright soccer players, get a Ph.D., bury my father and several close friends, travel around the world, dine with presidents, prime ministers and princes, pay my taxes and still earn a decent living without knowing that there is more to life than high school soccer.
