yeah i have no clue how chris was even on here, this was not a very good record, im not complaining of where i am at but there are alotta people who should be on instead. Michael did just kick the ball alot because he played sweeper because we needed one, he can do amazing in goal too and he did, he can also be an amazing forward, midfeild, outside, anywhere, thats why he got it.

It's crazy to see that Leesville who finished 7-5 in the district and defeated the district champs and also got results against the 2nd and 3rd place teams only received one first team player and one 2nd team player. I'm not putting down sam houston but how did they get more players then leesville and they only beat tioga and peabody? And Tioga who only beat Peabody got just as many players as Leesville. and from what I've heard the voting is done by secret balloting from the coaches. They are not supposed to vote for their own players but sadly the secret ballot idea allows them to do so without the other coaches knowing. Broadwell was very deserving of the MVP award and congratulations to him for that and everyone else who was selected.

As a coach, voting for All-District is one of the most frustrating parts of our job. Ofcourse, we nominate everyplayer we have possible, but it is the other coaches who give them votes. I felt that each coach from all schools sold their player as best they could. Ofcourse the result is not always the best or most accurate one. Not everyone will agree with the picks, b/c you know your players and teammates better than anyone else. The fact is, be happy for your teammmates and work harder next year so you too can be recognized for what you put in. I was disappointed that no Deridder players recieved 1st team for defense and they were Co-District Champs. They were robbed! So do not complain about who should or should not be on the All- District list. Every player who is on that list deserves it! BUT there are some players who are not on the list that deserve it too. "Work hard and you willl be recognized and rewarded for your labor."

Congrats to all the DeRidder players! ;D Great work Coach Wilber, glad to see you getting some recognition. All of the Seniors will truly be missed, as for the rest of the players, we are looking forward to a great season next year. Way to go Dragons

thats wat i was wondering 13thtrojan. i only saw him in 2 district matches (which were against deridder) and when he was in he wasnt in very long. and read he wasnt playing in any of the other ones. wats up w/that?! im not trying to take anything away from him tho if thats how i sounded.
but without a doubt--if he was healthy during district he would DEFINATELY be on 1st team w/no debate.

Sam Durham as Defensive MVP -- well deserved! This young man has great anticipation. When the ball is in the air and comes down...there's Sam! Plus he seems to know when to play the ball versus when to play the player(s). Yet I wonder how good Sam would be if he didn't have people yelling "Get it, Sam!" ;D I've admired DeRidder's defense all this season (exception being that infamous lapse in the second Leesville game), and I'm expecting next year's defense to be even better. I echo the sentiment for the recognition Coach Wilber (and Shane Wilber for the Lady Dragons) is getting. Coach, thanks for "volunteering" so much of your time for the soccer program in a little town that has a relatively short history (about 12 years?) of high school soccer.

dhs 1983: it wasnt the defense in the leesville game, the defense held leesville from scoring for 100 minutes. it was the offense that was lacking in that game. congradulations to all the all-district players.

stopper, I saw the Leesville goal...when the DeRidder defenders backed off enough to give the Leesville player a chance to get the ball airborne. I cringed when the boy cocked his leg. But your point seems to be that if the offense had done its job in regulation time, DeRidder would have won it easily, and the game would not have gone into OT.
The season is over. DHS had a great run in the playoffs with three outstanding games. DHS deserves the accolades it is getting. I think with Coach Wilber, DHS will advance even farther next season!

soccermadness10: He did get defensive MVP, to be honest when i watched deridder their defenders were just big and fast, not very skillful.
If you think our defense is big then you must have been watching another team. I'm only 5'8, 127 lbs. I am the smallest player on our team, playing the position which is generally filled by the biggest and tallest player on a team. And if we are not very skillful, then how did we play 31 games and only have 26 goals against us? I honestly believe that our defenders should have made all-district also. I made defensive MVP, but I couldn't have done it without my defensive backs and my stopper. Mark Meadows- Left back Micheal Miller- Right back Cameron Treme- Left back Trevor Tilley- Stopper

firstly, al district is politics and your entire defense will never get this, if you're a senior you would know this. Year after year it's always the same thing. Secondly, skillful has to do with playing soccer and not just defending well. Skillful with the ball and going forward. ANd thirdly, big in this district wasn't very big everybody was tiny this year.

I really don't know why you people go on about all this. You should all know by now that it really has nothing to do with the game of soccer. I agree with madness about the politics and that's it. The one thing I think they did get right was the picking of the Coronel boy. When it comes to a soccer decision on a team from this area wait and see the selection that normally goes up on www.crossroads-soccer.com They normally pick players based on all-round soccer play as it is decided upon by 2 'A' license coaches. It normally is on the website about this time.
