The 1998-1999 team, led by PJ Kee, finished 31-0-0.
This year's team, if they win State, which they likely will, will finish 30-0-0.

I've seen both of these teams play, one as a player (98-99) and one as a spectator (06-07), and I can say that the 98-99 team was a lot better. That team was a beast. Almost every player was at least six feet tall. They were fast, super aggressive, and dominating in every sense of the word. This year's team is more finesse (probably because of Hubie), with many players under 6'. If put on the same field in their prime, the 98-99 team would be too much to handle for this year's team. it would be a 2-0 victory for the 98-99 team. I don't know about anybody else, but it seems that Jesuit, this year, is a really good team in a state that has seen much better soccer talent in past years.

alfred what position did you play? i haven't seen this years team but i remember the 98-99 team and they where awsome. i'd have to see this years team before i could have an opinion but if this years team is as good as 98-99 the state title will be hard to take from them.
alfred i called a couple of your games in 98-99. if you don't want to put your position or number on the board PM me and let me know.

I was midfield for BM. I wasn't on Jesuit's team. If I ever went to Jesuit, or played for them, I'd shoot myself. They are good and all, but I despise them for that same reason.

That is probally why you see such a big rivalry and a lot of cards a lot of times when these teams meet. It is not in high school either, it starts in 8th grade when they play as well...

Answer to your question is no...it is the weakest age group statewise, although jesuit is good this year.

Alfred, how many players from BM and Jesuit could have played or did play college soccer from 1998 to when you graduated. Who were some of the better players?

For Jesuit: PJ Kee, "Bear" Petersen, Ken Bode, Micheal Touche, maybe Bart Bacigalupi
For BM: Nick Lambert, Gannon Webb, Danny Heine, George Bell
You must remember that soccer in New Orleans is very political. Most coaches single out certain kids from the very beginning (due to parents giving the school or, in club, the select coaches lots of money, etc.). Don't get me wrong. Everyone I just pointed out was very good, but I think Danny Heine was the only one who should have gotten a scholarship (other than a walk-on to Rhodes College), but didn't. Nick Lambert and PJ Kee got decent scholatships, I think, but I don't know what happened from there. These are just a few, though. If anybody else has some names, I would like to know. Thanks.

Alfred-you are the reason why the rivalry is so intense. Unfortunately, I have seen many BM folks over the years that spew venom when it comes to Jesuit. In my opinion, not a healthy attitude. Thanks for being honest for why you despise J. I watched both teams from J, and all the ones in between. 98-99 had some super-talented individuals (PJ Kee, Bret Grau, Ken Bode no where near 6', just played like it) This year's squad, throughout the entire lineup, plays as a team. I'm just glad to have my last of 3 Jesuit grads as one of the anchors of the defense that quietly has shut down virtually every team they have played.

Timerman, who is your son? Jesuit's defense is very impressive and should win state with no problem. The toughest game Jesuit will face in the playoffs has already been played in the quarterfinals against BM. Jesuit dominated the first have, but had to hang on in the second half with a flury of shots by BM. But just like all great teams they countered with a score to put the game away.

Timerman--Just watched the game tape--pretty good evidence of why we were a little frustrated with the refereeing. Also, never in my life have I witnessed such foul-mouthed, crude and disrespectful student fans at a scooer match (group of about 10-15 kids sitting in the section next to the Jesuit fans). I think I'm going to send a note to the principal of that school to let them know how badly those kids acted last night--continual cursing at our parents, challenging them to fights, etc. without provocation.

i would have to say that Jesuits team last year was way better then this years team...its just that the level of high school soccer is down this year( i will def have some disagrements). i just think there were many great teams last year and this year the level of play just went down.

Having seen both this and last year's Jesuit teams, I would agree that last year's was better.

PJ Kee went to Incarnate Word for one maybe two years. He then transfered to LSU. Nick Lambert turned down a scholarship to Kentucky. He ended up at William Carey with Gannon Webb.
