Evan Coffman of Destrehan. Defense player and incredibly fast. I've seen him playing up and an opponent break away. He'll out run them to his goal from the other end of the field, get in front of them and take the ball. He's a beast. Socca1, I've seen such a play only a few times in high school games...usually because a coach allows that defensive player (usually an adept, crafty sweeper) to play defense on both ends of the field...as the situation dictates. How did the other player react when he knew Evan Coffman had outrun him across the center field mark and stolen the ball? Does Evan Coffman do this often? Is he allowed by his coach to leave his position and go make great plays like this? Or does Evan just decide occasionally, "I need to shut that player down...regardless of where he is on the field."

Outside of my own sons, I enjoy watching him play more than any other player. Does he do it often? Yea.. Evan is a very aggresive player and does enjoy shutting players down. Can't comment on the coaching aspect, but Evan takes it personally if a ball gets past him.

I think there is probably a player from East Saint John that would be really fast, but that is just a sterotypical guess...

Yeah, St Aug had 11 on the field when they were chasing the ball and lost to the Jays 19-0. Fast don't mean a thing unless you got that swing.

michael smilari (forward) (soph.) is not only the fastest player in d3 hands down but there is a chance he might be the fastest man on the face of the earth

I heard Mark Compton#26 for STA, was running right around Brook for Teurlings when they played last Friday night.... and Mark has a hurt ankle #26 for St. Thomas Aquinas is THE fastest player I've seen on the soccer field this season. the funny thing is is that compton used to go to BM before the hurricane

Trevor Thomas from Carencro--top end speed is great, but what really impressed me about him was his acceleration--dude was at full speed in one step. Deadly with the ball and running.
Trevor Thomas is a special player!

There's a huge difference between foot speed and speed of play. Speed of play out ways foot speed any day. Maybe a topic for another thread.
