Tonight the Capitals take on Christian Brothers University at Olympia Stadium in Baton Rouge at 7PM. CBU has 7 former Louisiana high school and club standouts like Josh Menard, Brian McNamara, Eric Ellis, Ryan Heine, Gordon Blum and Robert Mingo all playing tonight. I believe it's the Capitals first proper scrimmage and it's CBU's last spring game so it should be a good one. Come out and support your local PDL team or your friends from high school. Should be a good match.

CBU played nothing like that while we watched them beat Memphis in Memphis* a 6 hour drive might have been the reason for the downplay i'm guessing... grats to the Capitals *played well the entire game* all players were in good shape which caused few subs unlike CBU it seemed... Mullins kid played well (finished his opportunites well- he was in the right place at the right time- good play Mullins) Capitals shut down CBU's offensive side of midfield well and their backline was very solid... Belfour and Saboe are a good.. actually great combination in the back.. haha idk how they got saboe to play in the back tho lol thats 1 lazy dude but not that night for sure..
question- why is austin or belfour still not looking to play college ball.. i know belfour did but came home... j/w why they both aren't playing somewhere

That Mullins kid was class. When he told me he was 15 I told him I give him respect for playing like that. The kids got an unbelievable amount of talent and I'd like to see him do well this summer and maybe get a chance at an MLS team. Kids that yound with that much talent should not be playing their age either. If he's that good for the Capitals then I hope he's playing with the U-18's for whatever club he plays for. I just wish I had a chance to coach him to harden him up a bit. Great speed, great mobility, incredible ability to turn and an unbelievable left peg. Good luck this summer to the Capitals. When they stregthen up that right side of theirs and add some depth in the midfield and up front I think they will be in contention to move on in the play-offs. Good luck fellas!

araborn, you think he could make it to an mls team? at 16 and 17 you have to be a star on the national level. ive seen mullins play and hes very good one of the top players in the state regardless of age but hes not a national team player and hes not ready for the mls just yet

I don't think most of them were National Team level at 15-16 years old. There are only 25-30 on the rosters of the developmental (U-18, U-20 MNT) teams at any one time. Some of those players may have skipped the MLS althogether, I would guess.

lafayettedad, how many players made it to the mls at 15 16 and 17...they were all in the national teams for possibly a year or two above their age. i didnt mean the senior team. but i do think right now mullins could possibly get a developmental contract but i doubt he or anyone that would be in a situation like that would want to leave their family to go make less than 15 thousand a year

In re-reading Adam's remarks, I can see how he may be talking about a contract after this summer. I was thinking that he was hopeful that Mullins would eventually get a shot at MLS. I wasn't thinking he meant anytime very soon. Indeed, the young man has talent, but he is no Freddy Adu and even Freddy, as well as he has done, has not yet lived up to the hype. à

Alright alright alright. It seems like anytime I post something on here it has to be explained ten times. Mullins is a good player. Having played overseas from when I was 12 til 20 I see things quite a bit different than most people when it comes to soccer, especially in Louisiana. COuld Mullins play MLS right now? Absolutely not. Point is that in Louisiana people are so concerned with winning that they forget to DEVELOP players. Player development begins with pushing kids to a higher level than they are currently at. Mullin scored 2 goals against a decent CBU side. We played poorly that day but that does not take away that a 15 year old scored against the starting back line of a really good D2 school. What I am saying about the MLS is that someone, either his parents or the DOC of his club should be doing everything they can to get him looks by the next level...that entails contacting clubs and seeing if they'll let him come train. If he goes and plays well then great, maybe something will work out. If he plays poorly then oh well. Point is that players need to be pushed to get better. He will slowly get better playing with kids his own age but if he plays against older and better kids then it's either sink or swim...he'll either excel or he won't but no one will ever know unless he is put into that situation. There isn't one player that wouldn't want that opportunity at any age, why not try to give it to them as soon as they seem capable, and in my opinion he is plenty capable right now to, at the very least, train with an MLS team. But again this kind of thinking seems to be looked down upon in Louisiana. When DOC's start worrying about developing players instead of only on winning then and only then will Louisiana be competing for National Championships at all age groups.

CBU not much on defense from what I saw. I agree with araborn, the capitals need some time to play together. They are all quality players, none developed good enough for MLS yet. There were ALOT of fouls from the CBU side, develope players who can out run, out last, and have the skills to defend without grabbing arms, jerseys ect. Boudreaux made some really good saves, capitals defense is a quality side. They are all young, give them some time to mature and become MLS players. Learn the game and develop team work, a hardwork mindset and attitude of winning as team players. Looking forward to seeing more of the capitals. They just need some time, the "McDonalds" attitude is what Louisiana soccer fans have , fast success, right now, no waiting!!. Supersized please.
