With the Ascension Parish schools moving into new districts will be interesting to see if they fare any better in the polls do to the change in competition.

Here are my picks for Division I:
1) Jesuit-the class of the state. They are the defending state champs, undefeated last year and will no doubt be close to it again this year. Someday these guys will lose.....someday.
2) Acadiana--Coach Lou brings back a team loaded with talent that has been building for 3 years. Late PK kick knocked them out of the semis last year or they might have been a finalist. I look for Acadiana to be one of the dominant teams throughout the season
3) St Pauls--7 starters return to a state finalist team from last year, and these guys are never short of talent. They should be a favorite on the Northshore, and look for more good things to happen once the playoffs begin. Biggest factor is how fast the Wolves start off the season--last two years have been slow early on but a great finish.
4) Lafayette--still a dominant program, though they havent seen a state final in 2 years. New district makes it easier for a district championship, and hopefully we will see more of LHS throughout the year as they will have more calender time for friendlies.
5) Brother Martin--I have a feeling BM is going to step up and push Jesuit a bit this year. Crusaders have a good solid team, and GK is their heart. New district set up gets them off the northshore in the first round of the playoffs if they are runners up and that will help them advance further in the playoffs.
6) St Thomas More--these guys showed last year they could play with anybody, and now they get a real test moving up into 5A. District with Acadiana is tough, but STM has something to prove this year.
7) Carencro--now 2 years removed from a state title, Cro will have as much talent as they have question marks going into this years campaign. GK and goalscoring will be items to be addressed, but new district set up will remove the everynight intensity of the last 2 years.
8) Fontainebleau--another team 2 years removed from a state final, FHS is still a contender. Depth will be there, but many starters are gone and will need to be replaced for the Dawgs to have a long run. Who will be this years GK? Time will tell, but dont count out FHS as they are always tough
9) Catholic--BR--new coach and new attitude for CHS this year as alum Bo Cassidy takes the helm. Cassidy will have his team disciplined and fit as he always does. No real big names in the CHS lineup except for Berryhill, but they will be in the mix. District changes make it much easier for the Bears.
10 (tie) Caddo Bossier team and Ascension Parish team--up North we will have the annual Shreve/Caddo rivalry that seems to define the Shreveport Soccer Scene--Both teams will be solid, well coached and deep. Look for the inevitable loss by both to either Byrd or Airline, but these two teams will finish 1-2 in District 1
In what is now the river Parishes district, EA , St Amant and Dutchtown join Destrehan Hahnville and East St John in what should be the states most closely competed for district. For the first time in the three Schools history, all are in the same district and this should make for some exciting play. EA comes back from two consecutive state finals in 4A losing only 2 players and with depthe and youth. Dutchtown will be younger than years past, but will have loads of quality players and good coaching. St Amant returns 7 starters and has the biggest squad in school history and more depth. Look for at least one of these schools to make a run

STM has to be in the top 10. I would have them ranked a least #5. The rams will be there in the end just like last year as well.
