I have to agree with Timeaus's approach--the preseason poll gets things rolling and starts fan interest in matchups. I dont think you need to get too worked up about preseason polls --they dont mean much. Until the season gets 2-3 weeks deep its all speculation. Lets just all watch and see how the teams do.

east jefferson is ranked pretty high to me, but then again it is Div. II and it could make sense.

Da J's JV cut list could win Division II.

Whoever was involved in making this poll must not know about the talents at these schools and whats going on. Acadiana is missing one player thats at caps, one doesn't have the grades, one just recently quit and one tore his acl in football. Two of the best forwards in the state, my opinion there best defender and a top all around player. So Acadiana can't be ranked that high no more. Also Lafayette high isn't returning many starters but we are returning alot of players that came in when our seniors were struggling and turned the game around. Also how is caddo that high? when they lost first round of play offs to lafayette high>? Caddo is ranked that high because they were a team full of sophomores last year and it took us overtime to beat them. And stop being so cocky, you're making it hard for me to keep pulling for LHS. Some of the underclassmen helped us play better, those are the ones that played.

In my humble opinion STM is ranked to low. I think they should be in the top 3. I think acadaina should be ranked 4th. sorry guys but I don't think you are #2 right now. Beating Teurlings is not as empressive as it would have been last year.

I disagree that you have to have an "official" "unofficial poll" just to create interest and get people talking. The fact that you have a forum to high school soccer is enough. People will still get on here and talk about who they believe is better and create their own rankings to share. No need to go through the trouble of creating a poll and giving it the appearance of being a REAL poll with any legitamacy....just my two cents.

I think it's off this year with Brother Martin getting ranked far down, but this is the official poll, is it not? The coaches never ever consistently rank teams. They have like what one poll the entire seaosn in the middle of the season that is a rip off of this poll. If the coaches did a poll right now, it would look almost the exact same as this one because the coaches look at this poll before voting. But the coaches dont care enough to do a poll, so these guys have been putting one out for like ten years and everyone knows its the legit one and the only one that is reliable.

acadiana ALWAYS a team to watch out for, they consitently are a very dangerous team and they should be a team to really watch out for this year in 5A. As always its a two horse race, if that in 3A. im not sure anyone has the talent of st. louis in that division this year but someone may step up. Teurlings was all seniors last year so im not sure they can compete with vandy for 4A.

some of the "others receiving votes" are way off. Pineville doesn't have Nick Weeks to carry them anymore. the team they have isn't top 15 in d1. menard lost everybody. they still have some talent but none of them are upperclassmen. Evan Key (junior) is a new player for them, and he's always good for goals, but he's always screwed around and he's yet to play a high school season so who knows if he'll even stick around. Also i think Deridder is going to move up that list fast. Don't ya'll understand, they have oogles and boogles of players coming in all of the time. they lost like 9 seniors 2 years ago and shot right up higher then they were the year before last year. their best players are stilll there. also, st.fred's will show who they really are in d2. they won't be able to screw around and beat up on the worst teams in the state and pad their stats anymore. don't be fooled by them, they've always been 5 or 6 spots higher than they deserve to be.

Also, R.E.Lee lost their coach and 4 or 5 of their players to some kind of controversy at Lee. Their coach is now at Broadmoor, with 4 of their players. Lee didn't even bother to sign up for McKinley's Jamboree in time, so, if they can't get their act together already in the season, how could they be a #4 team? Their coach (now at Broadmoor) even said that they shouldn't be that high. We'll see in a few weeks though, once the scores start rolling in. It's a shame that Lee didn't make the jamboree but it wasn't the team's fault, the coach and players were ready to go and looking forward to it -- the AD canceled the game. Although a few players followed the coach to B'moor just as many stayed and will play again this year. Their new coach has experience and knows many of the players and has coached them in the off season so it's not like he's someone they've never worked with. It's always hard to predict what will happen when you have a coaching change but hopefully they will come through it ok. there's still a lot of talent on the team so we'll have to wait and see.
