Jesuit has this big time but i don't think jesuit is playing to win. Its a scrimmage and i doubt they will go out to win

i dont think scrimmages are that big of a deal, most teams are just trying to figure out where they are at and who can play where in real competition

Unbiased view of the game. I only see Jesuit when they play North of the Lake, fan of neither team, if anyone more of a St. Pauls fan. St. Pauls did play them very tough in the first half. The first 10-12 minutes St. Pauls didn't get within 30 yards of the goal and then the momentum changed significantly, St. Pauls had 4-5 quality shots, probably 2 on goal and were attack minded and implemented the attack very well. Jesuit was a little rattled, and didn't attack much the rest of the first half.
Second half was still back and forth and then another momentum change after 5-10 minutes in Jesuit's favor. They quickly came up with 3 solid goals that even if St. Pauls had ALL of their starters in would have been difficult to stop. They just moved the ball better and their sequences started to work. The big difference, from what I have seen for Jesuit is their depth is definitely not as solid as last year. Last year they could sub in 6 guys and you would barely notice a difference, this year I don't think you could say the same. Not to say the bench is weak, it's just not as seamless.
Their top 11-13 are still solid, however if they get challenged by quality teams in a tournament and those guys start to get tired, they appear more beatable than last year. They will definitely give up more goals, which only leads to a better chance of beating them.

the 3-0 score speaks for itself, scrimmage or not.
The first half was fairly even with both teams having about the same number of quality shots on goal, but remember this was Jesuit's first real game action of the season and St. Paul's has already had a complete game under their belt, having played Rummel, a quality opponent, last week-end.
After taking most of the 1st half to get settled, Jesuit quickly took control of the game at the beginning of the 2nd half.
Contrary to comments made here, Jesuit subbed situationally in the 1st half, especially with the strikers and wings, and liberally in the 2nd half; the varsity team carries 32 players and everyone except the 3rd goalie played in the game. At the game's conclusion there were no starters on the field for Jesuit.
Whereas last season Jesuit had several quality senior 2nd year varsity players for subs, this year's subs are juniors that got their 1st taste of varsity soccer in the second half today; they have good skills and once they get used to the tempo and physicality of division I varsity soccer they should provide a good accounting of themselves later in the season.
Jesuit plays Acadiana next week-end, which will be another good early season test for the team.
