WHICH SCHOOLS IN EACH DIVISION COULD BE CONSIDERED DYNASTIES AND WHY? WHO HAS WON MOST STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS? I SEEM TO REMEMBER THAT BATON ROUGE CATHOLIC , DE LA SALLE ? AND OF COURSE JESUIT WERE VERY STRONG IN THE MID 90'S EVEN BARBE REACHED THE SEMI FINALS IN 1995...AND THEN ACADIANA,CARENCRO AND LHS STARTING GETTING STRONGER AROUND 2000. i ALSO REMEMBER WATCHING A JESUIT TEAM AROUND 2003-04 THAT WAS THE BEST ID EVER SEEN THEN AND NOW? IS THAT TEAM CONSIDERED THE BEST EVER...I GUESS IN THE OLD D11 ST MORE AND VANDERBILT CATH HAVE WON THEM ALL?? THEN I GUESS ST LOUIS,TEURLINGS NEWMAN AND ST THOMAS AQUINAS IN D111. ALSO WHAT IS THE FARTHEST A TEAM FROM NORTH LOUISIANA HAS GONE IN PLAYOFFS...AGAIN I SEEM TO REMEMBER THAT EITHER BYRD OR AIRLINE HAD A REALLY GOOD GOALIE DURING THE TIME OF THAT GREAT JESUIT TEAM..DID THEY PLAY IN THE FINALS

Slidell was very good in the early 90's--i believe they won 1 or 2 state Championships.
either 3 or 4 years ago both Capt Shreve and Caddo made it to semifinals in Div I
Woodlawn was a very good team in the early 90's, winning 2 state championships.

DII-Vandebilt. they have been to the state championship game i believe 6 years straight since 2002 winning back to back championships in 2002 and 2003, then three in a row in 2005,2006,2007. they also have been to state 10 times since 1996 winning 7 of those 10

I believe the best team ever was the 04-05 LHS team. They beat Jesuit in probobly the best game ever played but then had to forfiet because of the coach.

Hey soccerstud00, best team ever? I am a big lafayette fan but i don't think you could say best team ever. you might not even be able to say best lafayette high team ever. the year they won state was a great team as well as some of the teams in the 90's. also acadiana had some real good teams that i think would have given that lafayette high team a run for there money. you know you can't leave out several jesuit, vandy and st louis teams either.

St. Paul's (before its move to DI) won 3 state championships in 4 years from 1997-2000, and I think they were in the finals the other year.

Yea, St. Paul's and Baton Rouge High had a pretty huge rivalry in the late 90's before they both moved up to D1. I think they played in the finals and semis for those 4 or so consecutive years.

i think jesuit gets the biggest dynasty award. its kind of hard to argue that.

yeah, according to the past playoff bracket thing on lahs website, Jesuit has been in 11 finals since 1987 and won 6 of those 11...definitely the best in DI, but now that i look at the numbers vandy's dynasty is a bit better
st.louis has been in 5 finals since '96 and won 4 of 5, so i would say the best in DIII without a doubt

Great topic for debate!
Unfortunately it is hard to compare one generation to another, but let's go back to the beginning.
Division I:
Slidell had a run at state every year from 1986 to 1992. Then Catholic of Baton Rouge was in the state finals every year from 1990 - 1996 except for one year losing in the semi's. Then there was an awsome Acadiana group from about 1996 - 1998, 99? About that time Jesuit took over and has not looked back since. Not a bad run, almost 10 years now. And it wasn't as if they weren't competitve when all the other teams were winning state championships. I think you also have to include the Lafayette teams of the early 2000's. You also have to mention a couple of Brother Martin teams as well from the late 90's.
I think when you look at it in terms of true dynasties you have to say Catholic - BR for the early to mid 1990's and Jesuit from the mid 1990's to present. The other teams mentioned above were the result of a couple groups of kids coming thru at the same time and dominating for a couple of years.
Division II:
Teams that had great runs, but did not stay were St. Pauls, Woodlawn and BRHS. I think hands down though you have to give this division to Vandy Catholic.
Division III:
St. Louis, no questions.
Sometimes I look back and cannot believe that I actually saw all of this take place, but High School soccer has been such a joy to watch over the years. It takes on such a different emotion than club ball.

I would say 03-04 LHS team. I know they didn't win state - but they had huge talent. Will Todd, Joey Belfour, and an amazingly talented junior class. They were robbed in the state final by Jesuit...

not taking anything away from LHS, but having a good team for one year and not winning state doesn't exactly qualify for a dynasty. thats more like a great team but an unfortunate season.

Oh true, my bad. But they won state both years before that- so I guess it was a potential dynasty?

Do not get me wrong LHS is a very good team but i would say they are a very consistent team when it comes to the skill and preformance but as far as championships they are not defined as a dynasty that is just my opinon
