deserve it or not the lions are not playing good soccer right now. the talent is there so what do you think needs to be done.
If the lions play like they have been playing thier biggest rival is going to kick thier butt friday. It is gut check time for the lions
I hope the rams don't come in this one cocky thinking it will be a cake walk. they better come in hungry! if both them play like they have been playing the rams win by 2.

Unfortunately, what coach did, hurt us. And this is just my opinion. I think it was taken for granted that NISH was a weak team and that is not the case. NISH was impressive. Most of the starters on LHS did a great job last night. We do have the forwards not scoring issue. I can't recall how many goals LHS has had this season but I know it's not many. I think players are in the wrong positions. Coach Jeremy did some different things last night that looks like it could possibly work... if he continues it. And for the record, the freshman that came in the game deserves to be there. He is a good forward and is a real big go getter. If he plays more with Varsity, I could see lots more goals coming LHS' way.

It was a team effot, noone gets the blame. LHS seriously dominated the game... just could not soccer. Anyone who plays soccer knows that teams go through slumps. LHS is in a slump, it is as simple as that. And as for the starters not playing for but 10 minutes in the first half, I believe it was because they were underperforming by everyone's standards.

i disagree bigsoccerfan. i don't think cro is real good this year and I think lafayette has the best talent. nish seems to always get one key win with there packing the box style of play but they won't win many games doing that. if they try and play cro or lafayette head up they lose big. i still think it will be lafayette then cro in that order and the reat will fight it out for 3rd. Goatman, who do you think will win between NISH and CRO? Looking at the district, Westgate will not be much, I haven't seen Pineville but looking at last year, they are an okay team. If NISH beats Cro, the chances of winning district are very high. When they play LHS and CRO again, they will be at there home field. A small field and when it rains, a muddy field as I am sure you already know. With the small field, that plays in NISH's favor. If LHS losses one more district game, they would not win district. I really think a lot will be riding that Cro/NISH game.

If LHS losses one more district game, they would not win district. I really think a lot will be riding that Cro/NISH game. I wouldn't be surprised to see the winner of this district having 2 district losses. I'm thinking that Cro and LHS split their district matches, so if NISH beats Cro this weekend that gives Cro and LHS two losses. If NISH barely got by LHS by packing the box, I don't see them beating LHS again or sweeping Cro, so that's 2 possible losses for NISH. I don't think Lafayette is playing to their potential right now. Last Feb all the know-it-alls predicted that Lafayette would be a top 5 team this year, and I'm sure some knew the personnel coming up. Also Lafayette arranged games with STM, Acadiana, and Caddo this season - not the teams you'd want to face if you thought you were going to struggle I would think. They'll come around, and by season's end that LHS/NISH game might be the biggie. Good luck to all.

I think the district winner will have 2 losses. It will probably end up Laf, N.I., Cro, Pine, & Wgate. N.I. needs 2 real strikers to step up and get the job done on a regular basis. Then N.I. will be respected by teams outside this district. LHS will get it right very soon, and then look out.

i think dash has it right. there may be a district champ with two losses however i don't see nish in the mix. when it comes down to it i might be a little bias for more than one reason. the biggest reason is i hate the nish style of play when they pack the box. while it may be the thing to do against better skilled teams i hate it. the next reason is i graduated from lhs and i have friends over at cro. i could be wrong but i really think cro and lafayette are the top two teams in this district even with the lhs loss to nish

i think this was kinda close to a district game we had last year, we didnt expect much from independence and we started our j.v. but soon we realized they were to much to handle and the varsity went in . we won though 1-0. and then the next time we played them our varsity started and came out before halftime: it was already 7-0

What do you consider as packing the box..elaborate please... in addition to that.. The teams east of I49 stopping at N.O. are always bashed for playing "long ball" now what is the difference between that and lets say..uhmmm "direct play" ....okay so if you are a lafayette based team "long ball" better known as "direct play" whenever you reach Verrot School Road that is, is part of the game.. lol now that's ashame because Lafayette, Carencro,New Iberia,South Terrebone, Fountainebleau are good teams and all have essentially played "long ball"aka "direct play" ... Everyone must watch the Lafayette vs Carencro game.. u be the judge.. It's such a coincidence because some years ago. (check archives)(same result) the same topic was being discussed.. If you are an adult/parent speaking this way about young athletes.. you should be ashamed of yourself.. very classy.... because both sides played good defense and both goalies were exceptional... Now I have a question for you...In the event that a Center Mid is penetrating a defense.. would it be of a soccer teams nature to expand or condense? LOGIC people... go ask the STM, Jesuit, or the Acadiana team that question.. and see if they dont spit in your face! That is all.. good day now everyone Oh, and here is some Soccer for Thought! Ps..did you see Lafayette vs Teurlings or Carencro vs Caddo Magnet lets not talk about condensing defenses..maybe they should have done more of it..

“If you are an adult/parent speaking this way about young athletes.. you should be ashamed of yourself.. very classy.... because both sides played good defense and both goalies were exceptional...”
Tell me where I talked bad about an athlete! I did not say a word about any player in that post. I said I didn’t like nish style of play and I DON”T. It has nothing to do with the players on the team. Why are you so defensive? Acadiana tried that same style against Jesuit one year and it drove me crazy, (and was not successful). My preference is a ball control short game with good passing. THAT’S MY OPINION!!
I see you are new to this site with 12 posts so I will tell you a little bit about me. I have been around and involved in soccer for over 16 years, (yea I’m an ole fart). I have coached, refed, sat on the board at LYSA and announced high school games. I think most but not all people who have any time on this board will tell you that I am a strong supporter of Acadiana first and Lafayette 2nd. I also support all the local teams when they play other districts.
Have a bless day

nisoccer08. Your strikers are better when playing weak teams ( as with most teams ), however I think you need to be scoring more against the top level teams for NISH to get the respect your team deserves. The LHS team has been giving up some goals this year and so has Cro. Score against them and other tough teams ( like ya'll did against STM ) and who knows, you could win district.

You make a good point there xmopitchman.. Goals need to be scored in order to win.. I believe alot more scoring will take place once the midfield steps up in big games like Lafayette, Cro, Sulphur, S. Terrebone... It's all about wanting it.. Things will fall into place.. Can't wait to see the next matchup between these two teams.. Let's keep in mind though Lafayette didnt score against Teurlings nor did Cro score against Magnet and Tara.. Should be a even district.. Good luck to all
