are there any rec teams that can hang with select teams? alot of rec teams have great talent, but also have to play a lot of sucky players due to the 50 percent rule. do most select teams play all of their players or just their stars?

Ok, this question is very easy to answer, HELL NO. Id be suprised if a u-19 rec team could beat a u-15 select team. We beat some team when we were 15's that was a u-19 team and the whole game they fouled us. As for any age higher in select, hell no. Rec teams even not playing there 50% rule can not hang with select teams, select is like 10x better soccer then highschool, and in most cases highschool is 10x better than rec. So the answer to this question is NO.

In general, select teams are at a much higher level than rec teams. However, there are some very good rec teams, and some very bad select teams. Who would win in a match is completely dependent upon which teams are playing.

There are some great Rec + players who don't have the $ to pay the premier fees....having $ helps you get to the premier level

there are some rec teams that played select teams last year in u-15. Lafourche tied the blackhawks and a Houma rec team beat them. But I guess there is some kind of excuse, refs or missing players.

Yes, there are some rec teams that hangwith or beat select teams, but these premier teams should have never been formed as select. They are rec+ at best. Look at U-16's--Carrollton hardly wins a game, Covington got out scored in state 15-2. Blackhawks are not good. These teams were formed because the parents and kids want to say they play premier. Isn't that sad?

In response to the post about teams that are formed because the parents and kids just want to say there kids play premier. You are hereby invited to go to any premier tryouts to make them more competitive. If you play for a so called "real premier team" you'll find that it is made up of many former players of the of the so called "not real premier teams". If you play rec. shame on you for not trying out for a premier team. If you play premier soccer you should know better. It takes dedication to play premier soccer, no matter what team you play for. I challenge you to make the commitment to make your team better no matter what level you play on.

Spot,
I agree with you 100%---My coments were not to be negative towards any team rec or premier, but to point out that some teams no matter how hard they try can not attract quality players and it is to the detriment of the players to contantly get beat 5-0, 6-0, etc. We are trying to build players and if your team is not at the premier level, then play rec+ and have FUN !! Don't form a premier team just to play premier or because of some parental egos---do it and play at the level you can have fun and win a few!!

The Lafreniere rec + teams do well since the coaches ignore the 50% play rule. They will tell you that the player must play in each half - that is their understanding of the 50% rule. Some players I watched played about 7 minutes each half of a 70 minute game, or may 10 minutes at most of an 80 minute game.
