;D Looks like Mandeville has got a player's DOC. Shane is coming back and he and Mike Ortner will team up to do a great job. John Byford did a great job and now these two will take the club to the next level. Shane is a great coach and is demanding of all his players, but he has great compassion for all levels of soccer.

What qualifies you to say who is or is not a good coach? John Byford the U-17's (Last Year) coach is a A license and is going to coach at the college level. And for a small club, the club represented the state at the regional tournament so the other coaches can't be that bad. So take your winny self and other U-18's and go play for Chris Penton and still lose to Lafreniere, NOSA, and Lakeview-Carrollton. This is about building from the younger age groups up and player deveopement---something you know nothing about.

you know so little........ because i played for Byford and what did he teach? All he taught was when your team plays like crap, its OK you can not show up for practice and just goof off! what a great coach! Yeah hey maybe chris penton will get you seen by coaches and anytime you want to step on the field let me know. Hes a great guy but not a coach for developing players, sorry.

OK, I'll bite. Did John Byford leave? Where did he go?
Are Jeanfreau and Ortner U.S. citizens? What country are they from. What are their backgrounds? What team(s) will they coach? The recently departed 17-18 boys? They better get on the phone.
10 years ago Mandeville was a small club and was going to work on player development at the young ages.
5 years ago Mandeville was a small club and was going to work on player develpment at the young ages.
Now we are ...
5 years from today, . . .

How little you know !! Shane was born and raised in New Orleans and if you read todays sports page you would have seen that he was the Metro soccer player of the year two years in a row. He played at Wright State for the now coach of the Columbus Crew and was his conference mvp. A great player who would have made it to the next level except for injury. He has a A license and has coached both girls and boys teams. Mike Ortner is also another New Orleans boy. His father was the head soccer coach for may years at Jesuit and Mike has followed well in his dad footsteps. He and Shane bring youth and fun to the game and if nothing else a love of soccer for kids at all levels. Good Luck to both of these coaches who are respected by people not only in Mdv but in much of metro NO

Thanks for the update. The newspaper said JeanFreau played at DeLalle Salle and is coaching in Georgia.
I understand he will coach the girls side in Mandeville. No boys team u-18, no boys team u-17, very few boys for u-16 and u-15 and u-14, and the u-13 boys is holding another tryout this week trying to get enough boys to play.
Mandeville promotes girls soccer. Period. Someday they will have no boys premier teams.
What will JeaFreau do different? Take the money and never show up at the fields? Hide at home, or the office or overseas, or New Orleans, or Baton Rouge or Slidell? Charge big bucks for a camp and have mostly 10 and 11 year old girls? Not go to any high school games or junior high games, or playoff games or tournaments (I could go on and on and on)? Tell people to play club only and not for school?

You are so naive!! The guy doesn't even get here and you are slamming him. He will work his tail off. He loves soccer at all levels for boys and girls. He coached the Lafreniere U-17's to a state championship and two other boys teams. No one knows why Mandeville lost good boy players (except for Elizabeth Chugdin taking players to Lafreniere to play on her son's team), but lets give him a chance. He will be at the fields so much that you will get tired of seeing him. You sound like a disgruntled parent or player of U-18 or Instead of critising him, help Shane get the program on the right track and let the kids have fun Thanks for the update. What is Shane going to do about getting Mandeville players back to Mandeville? Nick McDonald and Jay Kasiske have gone to Slidell. JW Hunt to NOSA. The Judice boys to NOSA and Lafreniere. Chris Chugden and his mother (Elizabeth), plus his little brother at Lafreniere. And Jared La'Hoste U-16, on Lafreniere's SuperY team. The top u-15 player in the area, Shawn Colvera. at NOSA, plus the top u-15 goalie and 3 players at Lafreniere, plus u-17 Tyler Cochran (lafayette Burn) and his father (Mandeville high booster club soccer president), and John Tilghman (lafayette Burn) plus his father (ODP board), and Adam Cooper plus his father (DOC at Carrolton), plus Zack at Lakeview, and all the Mandeville high girls that played at NOSA last year, including Melissa Planells, the La. Div I Player of the Year and Monica Berbling. Oh, right, how little I know and how naive I am.

Shadow has a pretty good handle on who is where from the Northshore. It is a shame that all those very good players went elsewhere, but I know that Shane will do all he can with the younger boys to retain them and build a decent program. Yes, he'll do the U-17 girls this next season, but after that he said he will try not to coach but to take care of business. If you look at some of the clubs around like NOSA one side of the program is stronger than the other. NOSA boys side, except the U-17 next year have been stronger than the girls (5 to regions to 1 girls), so who knows. I just hope soccer grows in every club.

hey Chris Chugdun, thanks for the info. I left off Austin Conn, and his father who coaches the Madisonvlle junior high soccer team. I hope shane does well. What team does Ortner coach.
Who else from Fountaineblue plays for a club soccer team? What about Reed and Beitzel, and Drew.

This is Chris actually, and I dont know anything about the new Mandeville plans they have. About the FHS players, Reed was going to play for lafreniere (he made the team and played Y league one year) but his commitments to football took over. Same with Beitzel, he made the team his age but is too into football and baseball. And Drew said he isnt playing slect this coming year.
