Ok i've got a question that's puzzled me for a while. We're U-16 and it's not that i dread moving up an age group but...why do teams have to play u-19 when they move up? Most of the teams i know of go straight from 16's to 19's. You can't tell me that every team HAS to skip that far? Just curious b/c some teams are small and play these huge teams and it's just unfair. Anyways i love to play u-19 teams more then 16's i'm just wondering

depending on the area you live, there may just not be enough players to make indiviual teams at each age group, so the club may make a u-19 team, with players of various actual ages.

But i mean, when we go to tournaments and crap. We can't enter as u-17 or u-18. You have to go as 16's or 19's. Where did all the teams that played u-16 the previous year go. If they all move up and play the next year, then there should be a u-17. It's just confusing

yeah i play for rec. but i know a lot or select teams that have been coming out because they have no teams to play in the age group. but i mean we're probably just gonna move up to u-17 and if we have to we'll enter tournaments as U-19. ahh well

Well, usually..... The tournament may not have enough teams in u16 age group, so they ask you to move up, or you decide to...or, if you're good, and there's too many teams, you may be asked to play up a year or two....

The latter doesn't happen too often though.

What real difference does it make. You do exactly the same in High School. I am the youngest starter on my HS team and going against Seniors every day. Big Deal

If you are a good enough player it's no problem. Look at Freddy Adu with the National Team!
