Who do y'all think will be LSU's starting QB when the season starts? I know they will give Randall the chance to win the job in the spring, but all I can remember is how shaky he looked when Mauck went down in 2002. Is he a leader? I know he has the arm, but I don't think he is very accurate. If not Randall, which one of the freshmen do you think will win it. I had heard last season that Flynn had a better grasp on the offense. That should even out, though as the tigers go through spring practice.

Randall should be the starter in Spring ball, but look for Russell to make a push. Randall will probably start the first game of the year, but if he is inconsistent, JR or Flynn has a good chance of taking over in the middle of the season.

I really want Randall to do well, but I don't think there is much confidence around that program that he will. I hope he proves everyone wrong, because I think he is a solid young man. One thing he has going for him is that the running game should be off the hook next season, so he won't have to carry the load of the offense. It seems unbelieveable how much of a question mark it was going into last season, now it is the strength of the offense.

Russel or Flynn. Anything BUT Randall. Marcus Randall will not play a full game next season unless both those freshmen get hurt. Randall is awful.

Next year, I think they will spend the first 2 games trying out the QB's.....when all is said an done, Russell gets the nod. Rumor floating is that he may have even beat out Mauck this year for the starter position. I doubt Saban would do that, but they say he is pretty awesome. Also with the 3 big time receivers we picked up, I would look for a better throwing QB than Randall. I haven't heard much about Flynn, but I expect LSU's offense to be a lot different this year, because they say Russell has a cannon and he is pinpoint in accuracy. X. Carter, is said to have the best body control in the air of any recruited receiver this year and he runs a 4.3 40. E. Doucet, is said to be exactly like Clayton in that he has good size, good speed, can play anywhere on the field, and catches just about everything thrown. If LSU gels quickly this year, then I think we may be able to go undefeated.

Personally I think the offense will go no matter who is the signal caller. We have so many weapons now on offense with Justin Vincent and Alley Broussard. Then, you've got Skyler Green and two of the highest rated recruits in the nation, Early Doucet and Xavier Carter. (Saban also said that Doucet was so good he would make you forget about Josh Reed.) However on the defensive side of the ball, how much of a drop off do you think there will be from last year with Lavalais, Hunt, and Hill gone?

What about that HUGE guy we just got. I think his name is Herman or something. He was like the biggest baby born in Texas or something.
I really can't wait to see Russell play. I watched him warmup everygame and it's like he throws everything perfect. The guy is just HUGE.

I agree with Catch, Russel definietly is the most talented of the group. We'll just have to see if he can bring it against 90,000+ fans every week in college football's toughest conference.

I have never seen Russell or Flynn play, so I can't say which is more talented.
Herman Johnson, from Denton, TX, was the largest baby ever born in Louisiana. He is something like 6'7" 380. I saw some tape of him at the HIgh School All-Star game and he looked like a tree trunk.
I think the D-Line will miss Lavalais and Hill. They both had great years. A lot of the guys returning also had great years, though. I think how much they miss the guys who left will depend on how much Spears is able to fill the leadership role vacated by Lavalais. I think they will be fine. Kirston Pittman, Melvin Oliver and Kyle Williams both had very good seasons, you don't have to worry about Spears and the last two years' recruiting class have landed some bigtime d-linemen. Guys like Carnell Stewart, Tim Washington(this year's Justin VIncent), Marlon Favorite, Sean Merrill, Glen DOrsey, etc. Should be very solid line.
The LB's will be better that last year. There is no doubt that the secondary will miss hunt...see the Florida game, but I think Jesse Daniels will be ready to step into that starter's role.

What do ya'll think of the rest of the SEC for next year? Florida should be real good this year and I could see them in the giving as a run at the SEC title. Ole Miss will probably drop a fair amout b/c of Eli leaving and they have not had very strong recruiting classes over the past few years.
Who else do ya'll think in the SEC will be strong next year?

Ole Miss got Robert Lane from Neville last year. I believe he was the top rated QB in the state coming out of high school. He is supposed to be pretty good, and I even heard some Tiger fans say that they would have preferred Lane to Russell. Lane withdrew his verbal committment to LSU when Russell committed.
Florida should be good, but They lost some talent from their secondary. I think it will be Georgia again in the East.

as for QB's there should be more competition going into the season. Listed on the roster are Ty Barret, RIck Clausen, Matt Flynn, Marcus Randall, Lester Ricard, KaMarcus Russel. And lets not fogret Amp Hill in all those recieving weapons we have. We'll see how he is after injury

I hear Amp Hill is supposed to be amazing. I can't wait to see him play.

Amp Hill was the top rated receiver coming out of the state of Florida last year. He got hurt during fall practice and they decided to red shirt him. I liked what I saw from Dwayne Bowe this past season. I think he is going to be as good as any of them.
I think Rick Claussen transferred before last season.

Amp Hill is still not 100%. I have a feeling he will not be a starter next year.
