Is there some bias to rational thought on this board? Whichever mod deleted the "arrested" thread please PM me as to why. Your response is waited.
There was nothing in that thread that was against the rules. I asked a freaking question and some yahoo erased it. I was attacked for asking a question.
So what do we want to talk about? Who is reloading or buying there team next year? Some coaches afterall can buy their way in, so why not buy a team.... that sounds like a winner... maybe we can get our club team members to move into the schools district, that way we can play year round as a team. Oops somebody has already done that.
What else can we talk about? Anybody want to talk about refs? Can't do that... maybe a judgement call.

probally deleted because
it was a question that critized a coach on his decision, and/or was bringing up the matter that didn't need to be publicized any more then it has

Over the relatively short time that I have been participating on this board, I have seen an unfortunate but definite trend towards tighter and tighter censorship.
Only a guess, but I would propose that one of the reasons is because there are some people who are so obsessed with their own personal opinion and reputation that they end up sending a PM to Timaeus or some Moderator making idle threats about libel, which are essentially exactly that, not only idle threats but lame.
Here are the facts…Besides making distinctions between public and private figures, American courts have ruled that various kinds of published information are generally immune from libel charges. For example, it is almost impossible for a writer to be found guilty of libel if the writing deals with opinions rather than facts. "Under the First Amendment, there is no such thing as a false idea," the Supreme Court said in a 1974 libel ruling. I'm sure many of you realize how much money you have to spend to eventually bring a case before the Supreme Court. And you won't find one attorney who will take a case of this nature on a contingency basis.
Now, if you research many sites in regards to definitions and criteria for libel, you will get a plethora of convoluted double talk, written by the way by trial lawyers, which are actually designed to create grey areas, essentially leading someone to believe or at a minimum question that they have been damaged in some fashion. It is called billable hours and all attorneys will delve in this gray area so that they can acquire more cases and subsequently make more money...It's a game...And a dangerous one to say the least, because both sides will ultimately lose from a financial standpoint and both plaintiff and defendant attorneys will walk away as winners!
So essentially, if you express an opinionated disagreement with the judgement of a referee, which in this case is "only" an example and has nothing whatsoever to do with this forum, that is in no way even close to being libelous in nature, and the plaintiff will ultimately lose the case. Unless of course, someone on either side "blinks."
With that said, let us not forget that you can file litigation at any time for anything. Herein lies the problem. Despite the fact that libel is almost impossible to prove within this arena, because we are only expressing our opinion, laprepsoccer.com could possibly be named as a defendant and be required to retain counsel. And that costs money. So it’s a catch 22. Participants in this forum are perfectly within their rights to express their opinion, but they will be censored in the event that the threat of litigation is impending…
An unfortunate reality of a litigious society...

Good grief, someone just finished the ConLaw portion of some high school class...and now uses complicated words that they can't spell. Lawyers, like any other person trying to make a living, try to take cases that are profitable. Libel cases are extremely difficult, and damages are questionable, so they are infrequently filed. I can only imagine how one would be laughed out of court for filing a suit over an insult on laprepsoccerboard.com. "Your honor, catchafishbish completely ruined my client rainbowcycle's reputation on the soccer board, exposing him to ridicule among his other made up named peers, few of whom know who or even where he is...".
This is not a public forum and the moderators can censor whatever they want. If you want free speech, head out to the corner and start shouting.

Lawyers, like any other person trying to make a living, try to take cases that are profitable. Shucks...And to think I thought lawyers were out to protect the rights of poor, working class people like me... Libel cases are extremely difficult, and damages are questionable, so they are infrequently filed. Wrong...Libel cases are at epidemic levels...Threats of libel are even higher... This is not a public forum and the moderators can censor whatever they want. Whoa...That's a very strong statement there. I thought we had a few insignificant rules in that regard. If you want free speech, head out to the corner and start shouting. Sorry...That's slander...;D By the way Mung, did a quick calculation of your deletion rate. Congratulations...72 posts and not one deletion... . You're my hero!! But I did enjoy your courtroom rendition of a libel case between Fish and RainbowCycle. I wonder if the judge would have instructed RainbowCycle to answer a direct question posed in regards to whether or not he had a license...? ZING...

Shucks...And to think I thought lawyers were out to protect the rights of poor, working class people like me...... Only if they make 33% off of it...you've been watching too many Neblett, Beard and Ambulance commercials. ;D Wrong...Libel cases are at epidemic levels...Threats of libel are even higher...... ???I'd love to see some factual basis for this. By the way Mung, did a quick calculation of your deletion rate. Congratulations...72 posts and not one deletion... . You're my hero!! ... My posts are generally vanilla, and related to Cenla soccer, so no surprise there. Rereading your post I realize that you were actually minimizing the potential for suits, so my apologies for the sarcasm.

This is not a public forum and the moderators can censor whatever they want. If you want free speech, head out to the corner and start shouting. What do you mean this is NOT a public forum??? This is an open website on the World Wide Web, you don't need an invitation to post here (registration is not an invitation). Mung, you can't be that far out of it, can you? AND as a member of other boards (other sports) and a moderator, I will tell you this, IF YOU DELETE A POST YOU SEND A "PM" to the poster as to "WHY". That is the correct way of handling a deleted thread. Also, the admins should set up a "trash Can" for deleted threads, so mods can move them and get final approval from another mod. This prevents a Mod from deleting intelligent conversation thinking it was against the rules. Further, I emailed every mod who watches this board. Some have not replied, which is a definitive "no-no" as far as board moderating goes, and the ones who have replied felt there was NOTHING WRONG WITH THE THREAD AND AGREED WITH EVERYTHING SAID, the other wasn't online during the time the thread was up. The fact that someone deleted a thread and will not reply as to why proves that they were wrong and that this board should improve itself by getting rid of the ignorant mod that won't respond, or are worried they might get pistol whipped, or needs to go take some classes on being an effective mod. JMO. P.S. Without naming names, the fact you can't talk about refs, players, or coaches without getting on your knees to worship them is sickening. PEOPLE (Players coaches, AND ESPECIALLY REFS can only get better by criticism and pointing out their weak areas, thus allowing them to improve their "games". Also JMO.

Even if you disagree with them.. THIS DOES NOT MAKE IT A PRIVATE FORUM. Is this the only forum you are on? ALL Forums that don't want a "runamok" atmosphere has you register to post. The majority of these have a list of Rules or a "Terms of Service". A PRIVATE forum is one in which you have to be invited to join and is set up invite only. This is not a private forum, sorry if that ruins your Christmas present or something.

Just for fun, let's do a dissection of the rules, with only a little tongue-in-cheek sarcasm... . Here is what might be referred to as a portion of the indemnification clause that is agreed to prior to being able to post on this site. You agree, through your use of this forum, that you will not post any material which is false, defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise in violation of ANY law. This is not only humorous, but legal actions can be taken against you. Personally, I love the “this is not only humorous part.” You have to admit that whoever wrote that was kind of kooky…I have no clue where that part of the statement comes into play. Can anyone explain that part of the agreement to me? The legal action part…Sheer rubbish! But here is the kicker that is truly entertaining. In the very next paragraph, after actually stating that you cannot post false information, we get this… Note that it is impossible for us to confirm the validity of posts on this forum. Geezums…How can it be false or inaccurate if they can’t confirm the validity…Duh? So, I guess my point is this…If Timmy doesn’t like it, it’s gone. If a Moderator doesn’t like it, it’s gone. It would have been much easier to just say…You can post here, but only if we like what you have to say! Short, sweet, and to the point… By the way, based on the aforementioned agreement, sarcasm is allowed on this board. And lastly, for me, hdkjga has been the most easy going and reasonable, and sometimes even opinionated Moderator I’ve seen on this board. CoachRay probably got removed because he doesn’t cut any corners and tells the truth… Smokey, you coming to the Alumni game…I’ll bet you wouldn’t miss it for the world…

well it doesn't sound as good if you say we don't like it it's gone..... lol
It basically saying that if you hack this site, they reserve the right press charges... That is the only thing i can see
Smokey:
I know that this is not a "private" forum, but I had to mess with you a little bit ;D
