Stevie Gerrard is a good choice, and with Frank Lampard's recent 160 game streak that he's played in, and league leader with 11 goals I believe, he has to be included. Of course Ronaldinho is there, but what others such as Schevchenko, Henry, Adriano, John Terry (maybe), or other of high quality on teams such as Juventus, Chelsea, and the Milans?

I thought you had to be European to win the European Player of the Year. So that would take Ronaldinho out. Ronaldinho did win the World Player of the Year though, and rightfully so.

I think he may be a nationalized Spaniard or whatever they have over there.

yea i guess that could be true. That obviously doesn't mean he has to stop playing for Brazil? That would be an odd decision.

Although I admire Ronaldinho and consider him the best player in the world right now, I would not consider him to be the best European player. He did acquire Spanish citizenship, but that was only for tax and "foreign quota" purposes. I would say it is a tie between Lampard and Henry, especially after the latter's hat trick for Arsenal the other day.

Well I see what you're saying. It was George Weah who was the first non-european to win the award in the mid-90's. Since then there has been loads of Brazilians to win this award.
Ronaldinho's acquisition of a Spanish passport is nothing to do with tax. Its purely for Barcelona to work around the foriegn quota.
Lampard's stats for the season were actually better than Ronaldinho's over the past year.

Well Lampard and Ronaldinho are both class midfielders. They are both footballing geniuses and its just the flip of a coin to see who's better.

Ronaldhino's goals are pure class most of the time, while Lampard's are piledrivers that often get a deflection to go in.

That is a debate that people often look at. Which is why you can look at all different aspects of the two's strong points, and they are about even. I'm not arguing with you, Ronaldinho's goals sometimes make my mouth drop, but a goal's a goal, and Lampard scores them. And I hate Chelsea, so I'm not just saying that.
