He may be subbed in. I would not expect Arena to start him as he admitted that he put Freddy in Sunday against Canada only because Eddie Johnson got injured.
Maybe with an audience, Arena will give the fans what they want and take a look at the kid and see if he can hold up. Arena will have to deal with the choice of selecting him for the final roster for Germany. If Freddy shows well the time he is in the game today (if he plays) and then matures in the next 6 months where he turns 17 one week before the world cup begins and about 10 days before the USA plays their opener against Czechoslavakia, then he may bring him along to the big show.
It will be an interesting and developing story, and it really gets going now that he has played in a MNT contest.

i expect he will chock like he did in the eruo's, he is not good enough for the big time however some of the boys he played with certainly are ..they gave a spectaular performance, i still do not see all the hype in this kid, i have watched kids of 13 and14 in europe play better soccer and have seen better 16 yr olds over here......i really believe that due to lack of correct development he will be burnt out before hes been given a good shot at anything...

LOL!
Someone is a bit jealous. I wouldn't call his U20 performance choking.
The entire team played solid for 9 halves, and had one bad half against Italy that bounced them out the tournament. It wasn't Freddy Adu's fault for that either as all those players you laud, were responsible as well.
They won their group. That is not choking. Especially since they beat the eventual U20 champions.
Freddy has the talent to make it. If you cannot see that, then I am sorry for you. And I don't get this burn out issue. The guy is not overplayed and is in fact kept from playing too many minutes by those who keep wishing to use him as a substitute.

Not that many people on this part of laprep care to much about freddy adu. Put that under the international section.

Freddy is a high school aged player.
That is why I put it here.
If you do not care about the USA MNT, the Freddy Adu story, then you are not a soccer fan.

I was very impressed with Donovan and his unselfishness on that last goal, good vision. He just needs to keep his cool, because Czech will try to bump him around. I like Dempsey up top as well. I was surprised at how well the US possessed the ball in the second half. Norway crossed midfield maybe 10 times in the second half and never had any good scoring opportunities. It's nice to see Pope score with his feet too. Congrats to the US on a dominating win.
