Hidoteshi Nakata is a good player, but if they are playing in Japan or the US (I'm not sure where they are playing), will the European based internationals play in this friendly? If it is in Japan or the US I doubt it. I expect a weaker side from both teams, but it will still be a good game to watch.

Japan will be bringing mostly J league players so this game is a kind of J League vs MLS all star contest except with legitimate and real implications in terms of outcome of the game. No player on either side wishes to just treat this game as a friendly. The players must work hard to win roster spots and show their national coaches that they have what it takes to play for their respective national teams.

usasoccer, my bad on making it seem like I thought the game would be a sluff. I just called it a friendly because that is the term that would be correct. The game will definitely be hard fought. That's why I'll be watching and starting off my Friday night a little later than usual.

It is at 10 pm so it will be a late start. I have a few friends who we get together to watch the national team games. The good thing about this one is it as soccer should be, at late night during pub time, as that is how the europeans like to do it.

now that you have told me this i think that usa will win if there playing there younger players because the younger usa team do dominate thats for sure. they can beat teams like argentina and thats something the usa #1 team could never do. they will be the ones to watch when they get older

I agree there DeRidder, but don't knock the old guys, for they had to be the first to do it, and that is usually more difficult than continuing the tradition.

oh there's no question. But that's because it takes time to evolve, and now there is alot more competition when you are younger, and alot more players, so we're finding more talent.

Are you kidding me? Did y'all see that header from Twellman to make it 3-0? Pope's goal wasn't too shabby either.

USA looked great. These MLS players are really going to challenge the european players for roster spots. A good game for the USA. Next game on the 19th.

Having seen this game being played in California, I honestly think that Japan will do better in the world cup than America.
I dont see America getting out of their group; although i think its between Japan and Croatia for second place in their group, behind Brasil.

USA will beat Czech Republic, Tie Italy, and beat Ghana and win their group and then destroy Japan or Croatia in the Round of 16.
