Lafayette probably has the best JV team in the state because they all have played together for a very long time. All but 2 of the Lafayette J.V. play premier soccer.

There is probally less JV action this year then in the year's past... With all the rain some teams dont want the JV messing up the field for varsity action

I know not much is heard from Jesuit, but their JV can probably beat most Varsity squads.
The speed of play and field control is impressive. It's a shame any of those 25+ players are not even on the varsity roster which has 25+ better players.

hey boomboom how do you think jesuit keeps making it to the finals and semi finals every year same thing with rummel and brother martin. i promise you their JV teams would match up well with many varsity teams as well. some schools don't have the talent pool lafayette has and play soph, and even freshmen on the varsity. acadiana is a good example of that. i think they played four or five guys against lafayettes varsity that were freshmen or sophmores. if you drop those guys down to JV they would be a much tougher JV.

Goat, They played three that I know of and one barely played. Also, Jesuit might recruit players for their soccer squad, but most of the students have not had the luxury of playing with their teamates for 8 years.

Yeah, the JV squad at St Paul's played 25 games last year and only lost 2. Most of them were juniors and are now playing varsity this year and are ranked 7th in the state.
Simply stated, all the good teams have a solid JV program
Jesuit JV team could probably go to the Pearl River Tournament and win it.

Lafayette JV is a pretty strong team, they have a great set of guys who can play well together and have a solid structure as a team. I would put them as one of the best in the state.

The best JV team is the STM freshman team. They went undefeated in the St. Louis JV tournament. They beat Lafayette high JV team 2-0 in the finals.

yes...STM's freshmen team is a great team...they have loads of talent...as already mentioned they did beat LHS jv 2-0
but although LHS jv lost that game 2-0 i do not believe that STM's freshmen would win if these two were to meet again...LHS jv went in the game thinkin oh its just a freshman team...LHS came out slow and paid for it with a nice shot from deerborn...the other goal was on a counter attack in the last minutes when LHS had everyone up trying to put one in...Lafayette jv's main problem is finishing...many opportunites are created but they probably score on abuot 10% of their shots

I would have to agree with JOHN30 that STM's freshman team is good. They won the JV tournament with only 2 goals scored on them the whole tournament. That's good.

I don't really know to much about the STM, Jesuit, or Lafayette JV teams, but Dutchtown's is pretty strong as well; with a good showing at the Catholic High JV tornament (before it was canceled) and by winning their own tournament, they are easily one of the best JV teams in the state.

Hey, im on lhs jv, we r a pretty good jv squad, a lil undiciplined but i wouldnt say we r the best in state. our defense is amazing, theyve come up big, especially against como varstity even without the best player on the jv squad....nick hill (our sweeper). our offense is terrible. the ball stays on the inside, our forwards are selfish and jus can never get any kind of crosses or anything productive on offense jus the long ball to bryan or the 40 yard attempt from martin. i think some changes could b made, but its not up to me, and if i think that these changes were made, then we would be one of the best jv teams in the state....but then again wow title of best jv team in state.unless you can handle varsity teams, its really nothin special. ps- i dont think we got lucky against como, our jv played their hearts out n it showed(0-0).

Lafayette ( J.V. ) plays the ball up the middle because it gets goals. Lafayette keeps the ball in the middle because some of the outside mids can't play balls well into the six ( Consistently ). Also, if Martin can score from 40 out, then what is the complaining for? As for fowards being sellfish, well, they are supposed to be. Now stop bashing your own teamates.

It's a bit amazing to listen to people talk about the ins and outs of adolescent development, The facts are that you never know what is going to happen to a kid. Again...too many variables. As an example of a senior, is he going to turn 18 at the beginning of the year or at the end...a tremendous difference in physical maturity. Some kids develop early and then stabilize, reaching their potential early and that's it. Other kids don't look so hot early, but when they turn 17 and 18 they break out and you wonder what the hey happened. Its called genetics and hormones fellows. You never know when a kid is going to bust out at the high school level. That is why coaches need to be sensitized to this issue. The kid that you thought would be a big producer for you in the coming year doesn't turn out...and all of a sudden a "sleeper"shows up and you say..."Geezums, he wasn't anywhere near where is is this year last year...Flexibility is the key to being a good high school futball coach. Commit, stick to your guns, let the kid develop confidence that you believe in him, and he will put it on the line for you time and time again. Kids love nothing more than people who believe in them and don't give up when they make a couple of mistakes. We have all been guilty of that...
