Rematch on the 31st... 6:00 p.m. at Caddo Soccer field... Magnet took the first game in PKs 5-4, any thoughts on this game? Last year it was a dual-championship but not this year, whoever wins is district champion.

Match is going to be moved to INDY. Caddo is going to be a mess after 3 days of rain.

Shreve is going to come out hard. Whether it goes into PKs will be up to Magnets defense. Their offense cannot put the ball in the back of the net. Its going to a game won or lost by Magnet's defense and controled by the midfield. Whoever is going to control the midfield will control the game and counteract will be the only hope for the other. Hope injuries for both sides will not play a role and both teams will keep their heads. Should be a good but cold game

I think Wimer comes up huge in goal in this game and shows why he is the best keeper in the state. Shreve wins 2-0. Second goal comes with about 5 minutes left in the game when Caddo is pressing.

I think Shreve wins 2-0. Wimer will have an easy nite in goal. He faced very few shots last game. This game should be no different. Magnet forwards were a non factor. Back 3 for Shreve played very strong and should be no different this game. If the game is played @ Indy the score may be higher.

I think Shreve has got their game face on again. They seemed to go through a slump for a period of time. Now they seem to be back as strong as ever.
Shreve's defense continues to impress me and others from what all I read. The back 3 plus Jeremy are great together and definately shut other teams down well. Midfield seems solid and working hard like they did in Sulphur and Pineville. The forwards seem to be finishing strong. Keep up the great play guys.

It's hard to believe that Shreve will beat Magnet 2-0, much less 4-0, coach, give me a break. How can one make that prediction with the last game having the outcome it did. It's going to be an incredible game no doubt, but I think people here are not giving Magnet the credit they deserve. I have no specific ties to either team, but that doesn't mean I can't recognize the abilities of both teams. Shreve is fun to watch but I don't like the behavior of some of the players. Magnet needs to pull it together and not be so sloppy. Their games against Byrd and Southwood were not their best showings. I think Magnet can pull it out, it would be exciting to see a game as good as the last. Good luck to both teams.

Keep... I like Magnet more than you think. I know, you think that I don't like Magnet. Magnet appears to be too volatile. I would go out on a limb and guess that Shreve has got a slight edge on talent and as I have say in past "A lot of Talent and good coaching vs not as much talent as Shreve and good coaching equals to 3-0 to 4-0 in favor of the first" If magnet overcomes Shreve with Victory, I would be happyer than you think. I know you don't think I would be happy if Magnet wins. It will be a good game, I hate to miss it but work has me near BR area this weekend.

Liking the team has nothing to do with anything. I agree Magnet is kind of scary to watch sometimes with the way they handle the ball. I am just happy there won't be any of this co-championship stuff like last year. Because of where I graduated from, Shreve has been our rival in everything, so I do lean towards Magnet. I just don't think Shreve can pull out a 4-0. I know the Magnet team has been practicing very hard for this game and are ready to play. The team is very talented, just sometimes they can't keep it together. Part of that comes with maturity as individuals and as a team as well. Hopefully Monday will be the day they shine and get it together. Sorry to hear you won't be able to see it, it certainly is shaping up to be a good one. I'm sure you will hear all about it though.

The last game I saw in Independence stadium may actually have been a preview for the one on the 31st.
In the last game one of the teams played a very passive defense and they got picked apart by the other team. They had a defense that consisted of players who had good 1 v 1 defending skills, but they did not play well as a unit. They learned from their mistake and they have completely revamped their defense since that disappointing result.
Monday night they play a team which may have the best 1 v 1 defender in the city (#9), but that same team plays a very passive, "prevent" defense.
This is a rival game and historically the last 4-5 matches have been 1 goal or pk differences, but it would not surprise me if Coach 4365 gets closest to the mark with his prediction.

I would love to see the result that Coach predicts but I imagine this will be another low scoring, close match. The two defenses are good. Both have held their opponents to 1 goal or less in all but 1 match each. Shreve gave up 3 to Jesuit and Magnet gave up 3 to Vandebilt. I don't see either team getting 4 goals in this match. Shreve seems on top of their game now coming off a big win vs Byrd and a blowout of Huntington. Magnet has the loss to Byrd and a 2-0 win over Southwood. However, I think you can throw all that out when these two get together. Both teams will be sky high, it will be the biggest match of the year up here, we should have a great crowd, 2 teams getting to play for it all.
Shreve 2 Magnet 1

I would love to see it come down to PKs again, but I know that is exhausting for the players, especially if its going to be cold. I don't expect the sum of the scores to be four, much less one team score that. The game will most definitely be exciting and intense, the way any district champ game should be. These truly are the best teams going at it.

The match has officially been moved to Independence Stadium Monday at 7:45 PM. It will follow the Byrd-Magnet Girls Varsity match.

yeah, definitely saw that one coming with all the rain over the past few days. Shrevedad, how well does Shreve play at Indy? Different surfaces and field sizes affect teams and I haven't seen them play there. Just wondering if you think that will make a difference in the play of the game.

Good question, Shreve has only had 1 match this year at Indy. 4-1 win over Byrd last week. Last year at Indy we lost 1-0 to Magnet in the season finale and then lost to Sulphur 3 days later in the playoffs. Results are mixed. I don't think the field will make much of difference this time. Magnet has struggled at Indy with a 1-0 shootout win over Airline, a 1-0 loss to Byrd, and a 2-0 win over Southwood. That probably means nothing either when it comes to this match.

Yeah things are pretty unpredictable when it comes to these two teams. Either everything is a factor or nothing is. I just hope this surface doesn't increase the risk of injury. Last year at a Byrd/Southwood football game a guy stepped wrong and left with a compund fracture of the leg. Definitely don't want anything like that to happen. I am looking forward to this match up, it will certainly be one of the best this season.

Indy is probally one of the biggest fields in the state, but also one of the best kept. You never have to worry about water puddles, patches of mud, divets or bad keeper boxes. The field does have a few disadvantage, the Astroplay is very slick and you can slide quite easily on it. That also goes the same for ball. It basically just takes off. Also not having a good place to warm up before the game is no good (Girls game will end most likely 7-7:10 leaving only about 20 minutes to get a good warm up after a good stretch.) Lets just hope the game doesn go into overtime because shreveport refs like to start ontime no matter what. The one thing I hate about the field more then anything is the use of yellow to mark the lines. The yellow is VERY hard to see when playing because there are tons of white stripes from football. Knowing where the 18yrd box is sometimes becomes a guessing game

The girls match will not get over until 7:30 at the very earliest. We are also going to introduce the seniors of both the Shreve and Magnet boys and girls teams before the boys match. My guess is the boys match will not start before 8PM.

I'm taking off work to come to this game so it better be good. It's hard to say who has the advantage. Shreve wants to redeem themselves. Magnet's coming off a loss they shouldn't have had (that can be motivation). Both teams hate each other and want this win. Say what you want, but all formalities aside these guys can't stand each other. I think both teams have skilled players. I'de like to see magnet win. We'll see
