I don't think the national poll is very accurate anyway. I voted Lafayette #1 as well, just because of the wins they have had over some of the best teams in the state. St. Louis has had some quality wins, but not nearly as many as Lafayette, and not nearly as tough of a schedule as lafayette. In my eyes, St. Louis and Laffy tied. A shootout doesn't determine who the better team is. It determines who has accurate shooters or who has a better goalie. I think if St. Louis and Lafayette played 5 times, Lafayette would win 3 or 4 of those.

Guessing about which side the goalie will dive to? I never even think of that. I just pick a side and shoot.

D1 1) Lafayette 2) Carencro 3) Fountainebleau 4) Jesuit 5) Brother Martin 6) Cpt. Shreve 7) Acadiana 8) Dutchtown 9) Rummel 10) St. Paul
D2 1) Vandy 2) ASH 3) STM 4) EA 5) BF 6) Neville 7) Parkway 8) Pineville 9) Lee 10) Tara
D3 1) St. Louis 2) TCH 3) St. Martin 4) Newman 5) OC 6) U-HIgh 7) St. Thomas Aquinas 8) Episcopal BR 9) WF 10) EDW
Overall: 1) Lafayette 2) St. Louis 3) Vandebilt 4) Carencro 5) Fountainebleau 6) Jesuit 7) Brother Martin 8) Teurlings 9) Shreve 10) St. MArtin
Lafayette was ranked nationally too until the LHSAA thing. St. Louis played overall weaker competition. The St. Louis/Lafayette game was a shootout, so don't try to convince me that St. Louis is better than Lafayette because they won in sudden death rounds of a shootout. It went to the 7th shooter........ Lafayette has beaten Cro 3 times and the most recent 4-0 win was right before playoffs, that's why I have Lafayette as #1. The overall, I would bet a lot of money that had St. Louis and Lafayette played each other that Lafayette would have won the game. It wouldn't have gone to a shootout. That's my feelings and therefore, St. Louis is #2 behind Lafayette.

I've seen St. Louis a number of times this year and they are VERY impressive, but an interesting point about the LHS/St. Lou match which ended regulation as a 1-1 draw, is that EVERY ball that St. Lou put in the back of the net can from the spot. That wasn't true for LHS, they scored during dynamic play. I think LHS is a better team and in a "non-tournament" match would win. IMHO.

Cardsinhand, what you said makes no sense at all. First of all I assume there is a typo - "can from one spot." Is that supposed to be "came from one spot"? Second of all,
Every ball? It was 1-1. St. Louis only put 1 ball in the back of the net, as did Lafayette. If you were at the game, tell me how St. Louis scored, and tell me how Laffayette scored.

We scored off of a corner I believe, or maybe it was a cross that got tapped in. I forgot, but St. Louis got a PK in regulation to tie it up. By the way, that was their only shot on goal.
We also had a PK in the first half pulled out of the box for some reason. Our player is dribbling down the goal line, he is about 5 yards from the 6 yard box, and gets taken out from behind. Ref blows his whistle and moves the ball outside of the box, like a short corner. The linesman had to back up because he started walking to the 18 like they do when it is a PK to get a closer view.
Now that everyone can know what happened, go make your own mind up on who is better. It really makes no difference, but I had to put the facts.

It amazes me how LHS "supporters" use certain forms of logic when it is to their advantage and then counteract that same logic when it is not to their advantage. ......"In my eyes, St. Louis and Laffy tied. A shootout doesn't determine who the better team is.........I think if St. Louis and Lafayette played 5 times, Lafayette would win 3 or 4 of those." Well, they played once and they lost to St. Louis, no matter whether or not you want to call it "real" or not (by high school soccer rules, they lost). This is just one example of how a victory can be used against you in the eyes of LHS. There are many throughout the threads of this web site.
Carencro is #1 in the state regardless of any Laprepsoccer poll, by voting Lafayette #1 all you have done is discredited the Laprepsoccer poll, nothing else.

Just making sure you know- I am not an "LHS supporter." I'm actually a St. Louis alumni. I never said that St. Louis's win isn't officially a win. It IS a win, but am I not allowed to disagree the with the way ties are settled in soccer? I liked the way the MLS used to do it - having a one on one with the goalie.
Carencro is not a better team then Lafeyette, sorry. They are not ranked #1 because most people feel that way. I don't see how the poll is discredited at all.

How is Lafayette the overall #1 and St Louis #2, when St Louis is undefeated and the only team to beat Lafayette? I understand the sympathy for Lafayettes plight in D1, and while I dont feel they should have the top spot there, I'll give it to the voters on that one. But to vote St Louis #2(they are ranked ahead of Lafayette nationally for petes sake)in the overall poll is just plain biased. Something like this really calls the LAPrep poll into question in my opinion. Cmon guys--vote with your head, not your heart. come on coach. you sit on this very site and talk about teams like d-town, your own st amant, and others from your district and try to convence us that it is one of the top dist. in the state. well in my opinion you need to stop posting with you heart and start posting with your head (look at the playoff results). lafayette supporters have a valid point, lafayette played a much, much tougher schedule than st louis, lafayette lost in a shootout not on the field, lafayette would more than likly beat st louis 3 out of 5 times. you say look at the national polls, well maybe they don't know about the strenght of schedule like we do. maybe just maybe they are wrong and this poll is right!! by the way coach i think st amant would have won Div III if they were in st louis place.

Goat--ben so lonnnnnggggg since you showed me a little love.
The idea that all those other polls are wrong and this one is right is like telling the only one band member out of 100 marching wrong that he was the only one in step!
You guys are right, Laffy is the best. My bad.

These discussions are getting old. IT DOESN'T MATTER. It only matters to YOUR FANS. Carencro got the trophy...they're excited. They have the rings. Laffy fans will think they are the best...THEIR FANS. St. Louis will think they are better than Laffy because they beat them. Laffy will think they are better than St. Louis because they played a tougher schedule. NONE OF IT MATTERS.
Personally I think we, Dutchtown, are better than Acadiana that they played their best game when we didn't...though Goat would disagree, BUT GUESS WHAT, we LOST THE ONE GAME THAT counted. WHY did we lose it....it doesn't matter....not to anyone...BUT US....
ACCEPT REALITY....PLAN FOR THE FUTURE...MAKE MEMORIES

Ok Pitch, accept it--even though Dutchtown beat St Amant twice this year, the Gators were really better, after all, we just were. We didnt have to win to prove it. If we had scored more goals than you guys, we would have won. If we had beaten you guys, ya'll would have lost. See that...makes perfect sense. I just have to believe it in my bitty mind.
