Monday 4 Feb SSA 5 - 0 Northshore Third time these District 7 foes have played each other this season. SSA spread the wealth around this time, as they had five goals by five differnet players. Halftime score was 3-0, final 5-0. SSA controlled possession most of the game, playing 90% of it in Northshore's half of the field. SSA's defense limited Northshore to 2 shots on goal and only one of them had a realistic chance of scoring. Northshore packed in their players on defense which thwarted several SSA attempts on goal; however, the strategy severely limited Northshore's ability to counter attack. Once they were down several goals, they had no way of drawing to a tie. Northshore played with heart but were outmanned today.
Good luck to the Doves in the quarterfinals!

Regarding the Northshore/SSA game today. I was there and I have to say Bruce76 you are incorrect with your game analysis. 90% of the game WAS NOT played on Northshore side of field and We had more than 2 shots on goal. I don't know what game you were watching. But whatever, it really doesn't matter. SSA won. I am very proud of the our Northshore girls for not giving up. That says alot for what kind of players they are. All of this season they have played with alot of heart. Especially, being part of what in my opinion is the toughest district. Pulling the upset against Dutchtown was big and we made to the second round. Just wait until next year. We will be bigger and better.

Copied from the longer post in the Div 5 thread --
SJA 1 Chapelle 0. Goal by Leah Aultman in 77th minute off the assist from Grace Gremillion. The winning combination started with a through ball from Maggie Eggers to Gremillion, who found space to her left, and fed a wide open Aultman at about the 30. The Chapelle goalie for some reason was out -- I'm not sure if she thought that Aultman would try and drive -- and therefore needed to attack to cut down on the angle, but Aultman's resulting soft floater over the goalie was beautifully placed for the game winner. Ironically, in the 71st minute, Aultman just missed the exact same shot off a pass from Jessica Fenner that barely floated over the cross bar. In that situation, the goalie was again extended into the mid part of the box.
No one told SJA that Joe Yenni field is comprised of Putt-Putt green carpet. The hard, smooth surface, coupled with a steady 20 mph wind at their back in the 1st half seemed to stymie SJA, who clearly was unaccustomed to how rapidly the ball moved on the ground. There was a lot of hesitation and flat-footedness, and suffice it to say that SJA's coach was not happy. Even with that, SJA controlled possession no less than 95% of the time in the 1st half. Chapelle only advanced past midfield on three occasions. The wind certainly played a major role in that.
SJA adjusted in the 2nd half, and began finding their touches on the surface. Going against the wind helped tremendously. Chapelle used the wind in the 2nd half to make a few forays into the upper third, but 2nd half possession was still 65-35 for SJA.
Chapelle actually had the first chance in the 58th minute. A nice corner found someone's head, but it was blocked. Chapelle had three more corners, but nothing much happened with them.
Congrats SJA on a quarterfinal appearance against Fontainebleau or Dominican. It should be fun.

I was at the SSA Northshore game. It was pretty much one sided. The only real shot on goal by Northshore came with about four minutes left. The subs were in the game at that point. Northshore is a much improved team but not ready for SSA yet.

The SSA/ Northshore game was a hard fought game against the wind and each other. Northshore fought hard the entire game. SSA just came up with some quality goals, first by Trish J, then, Ashley M., Lauren S., Catie C., Carlie F. (I think 3 of those are Freshman) But Northshore had some dangerous shots too.

Final Score
Barbe 2 Caddo 1
Barbe scores from a corner about ten minutes in. Caddo ties it up just before half from inside the 18. Barbe scores with a shot from just outside the 18 about midway through the half, Caddo keeper got a piece of it.

I'll give my Quarterfinals predictions:
STM over Byrd - STM has too much speed for Byrd Dominican over St. Josephs - Don't bet against them Lafayette over Barbe - SORRY Barbedad, Lafayette scoring goals now SSA over Baton Rouge - SSA out of a very tough district schedule are tested.

Have to go with STM. Dominican, SSA and Barbe. LHS has the home advantage but they have not been tested since their tournament and I think this gives Barbe the ultimate edge ( 2-1 ).
