What a DARN SHAME that the Public schools have to compete with the Catholic/Private schools for state champions...Just take a LOQK at both Boys and Girls winners from last year,,,,,SEE anything FISHY there??
Is it FAIR to have players that live OUTSIDE their local public school districts STACKING up on a particular private school to WIN the State Title.....
In all due respect to the players on such teams,,,,they are some of the BETTER players to begin with,,,and I wonder why??.,,,,,,Their parents have SPENT many dollars improving their skills.....many select tournaments, soccer camps out of state,,,,,they have paid for coaches from England and ex retired PRO players to coach their kids.....THEN,,,when the child reaches High School age,,,they ship them across district lines to the POWERHOUSE private school.....
YALL think this is FAIR PLAY????yea right!!!!!!!

Steve -
soccer is just one of many sports that LHSAA offers. just because the private schools excel in one sport does not make it unfair. is any other sport dominated by the private schools...no...but you do not hear them bitching & moaning about having to compete with the public schools in these sporting events, do you? what ever the reason for the private schools' dominance in soccer, you have no argument of fair & not fair. these kids would more than likely attend the same school with or without soccer

Steve's point is well taken and does affect the result in many states in several sports. One state recently considered a measure to multiply the number of students by 1 and 1/2 in the case of a private school, in order to determine classification. Thus Jesuit, for example, would have 1200 students times 2, because it is one gender, equals 2400 students, then times 1 and 1/2 equals 3600 students. Also, doesn't Jesuit win the state title in several sports? Isn't Rummel playing for the football championship this weekend? What about other sports like swimming, tennis, volleyball, etc. etc. etc.

The facts are private schools have a higher % of premier players on their teams as their parents can afford the fees.Added to this is the fact that once on the team they show great commitment to the game and the school. To stay with them you just have to work harder and demand the same level commitment.

get over it. Private schools do have an advantage, no one is arguing. However, it's not impossible for public schools to kick some, ya know....

Private schools also offer athletic scholarships--that is, they look around for good athletes and offer to wave tuition fees for them if they will attend the private school and play sports for them. A few years ago, my daughter was offered a "free ride" at a private school if she would play basketball for them. I have heard of similar offers from the same private school to girls who play soccer.

Not all good players got to private schools. Maybe they all go to the same school because they feel they have a better chance of winning and getting a college scholarship. There is no shame in that. If you could increase college soccer chances by going to a private school, would you want to go to a public school? Though some of the best soccer schools are private, there are so many public schools that have great soccer programs. In Division I, Mandeville, Acadiana (semifinalist in LA Showcase), Caddo Magnet (won Gator Cup, 2000 State Runner-up, 2000 LA Showcase winner, 2001 State quarterfinalist) , Baton Rouge (team in LA showcase), Carencro, and Lafayette(Finalist in LA Showcase) are a few of the public schools in the top 10. I think it's respectable if a kid goes to a private school to increase their future, but don't act like public school soccer programs are that bad.
