This thread has been modified to meet the new districts for Division II next season. Some of you have already responded below (prior to 02-16-07), may want to modify your respective replies.
DISTRICT 3 1. Alexandria 2. DeRidder 3. Houston, Sam 4. Leesville 5. Peabody 6. Tioga
District 2 did well this year. Most of the teams will next year constitute District 3 (see list above). Maybe next year one of our area teams shall advance to the semifinals...or even finals.
Those of you in the know about the respective girls' teams in next years's District 3, what are your thoughts about next season?
How many starters are graduating versus the number returning? How are your players developing their skills?
Does any team know they will likely one or more new, highly talented players ("difference makers") -- for example, eighth graders moving up to high school?
Anybody dare predict next season's final district 3 standings? And/or how far a District 3 team could REASONABLY go in next season's playoffs?

THS has 4 starting varsity graduating, but has "ladies in training" to take their places (fingers crossed).

DeRidder is graduating 3 seniors and alot of leadership but I have faith in my returners to take the banner and run with it

DeRidder is graduating 3 seniors and alot of leadership but I have faith in my returners to take the banner and run with it It doesn't hurt that Deridder gets Rachel Coronel coming up, who is a phenom. ASH loses 6 seniors, all starters, most of whom have played and lettered since they were freshmen, and Coach Randy Miller. Next year is looking like a rebuilding year for the Lady Trojans.

The coach promised me a lot of good food. If that is the case I may let my captains coach while I eat. You have to have your priorities straight

Should be an interesting district this year. Can't wait to see how it all plays out. DeRidder seems to look pretty good all around if everyone returns and stays healthy. As Mung stated, adding Rachel Coronel to the mix should make things interesting. Tioga and ASH are always strong and can't forget about SHHS, they are always tough. Not too sure what Leesville looks like and haven't heard much about Peabody, just hope they are able to field a full team this year. I can see a repeat for DHS if things can meld together like they should and I know Coach Wilber will keep things running smooth (even without his favorite stats person) Can't wait to watch the girls for a change without the stress of a player on the field!
GO DRAGONS!

Coach W,
that's three 0's of NON-scoring in the three scrimmages. You played close in two latter games. What did the team learn? They may be playing "okay" defense, but what about offense?

Prediction, based on last year teams/grads: 1. Deridder 2. Tioga 3. ASH 4. Sam Houston 5. Leesville 6. Peabody The SH/ASH could go either way, as both lost much talent, and are rebuilding. Hopefully this district will be more competitive in the playoffs this year, but all roads seem to go thru Neville.
