The reason they are successful then? Same reason two other western St. Tammany schools, Fontainebleau and Mandeville, are successful: high participation in youth soccer in the area. You are 100% right. Part of the reason that Neville has done as well as they have done is because some of their players played division one soccer from U11 through U16. Both Mandeville and Lafayette have strong soccer clubs, and it translates into strong high school teams.

Enough about the recruiting - it is taking away from the fact that the teams made it this far and did their best. The more complete/skilled team won the game - enough said. DO not detract from the effort either team put out. Again it is the large student base and early training efforts and work ethics that made the difference. Great job SSA.

Success in high school soccer is all about the strength of that particular community's soccer program.... Rec, Rec + or Premier. Lafayette, Mandeville, Baton Rouge, New Orleans all have established Premier programs. Monroe does not. Until Monroe does, it will be hard for Neville to consistently beat the teams from down south. And I cannot imagine that a private school would ever recruit for soccer, much less girls soccer. Peer pressure from friends is not recruiting...
