When are the All-Metro and Times Picayune All-City teams going to be released? I seem to remeber them being out soon after the season last year.

WOW, looks to me that alot of people were left out. I guess you can be the best in the state and make the All-State team but when it comes to All-Metro you just dont make the cut. This team is purely picked by the Times-Picayune writters, obviously they don't get to watch the soccer season thouroughly. I just wish I could of seen more of the girls on the All-State team make the All-Metro team it only makes sense. Congrats to everyone who made it, but I think the All-State team is a higher honor to make, considering coaches pick it.

Congrats to everyone who made it, but I think the All-State team is a higher honor to make, considering coaches pick it. I agree that the Times-Pic writers obviously don't spend enough time watching games from multiple teams in order to make accurate judgements as to who should be on the all metro teams, but I believe it is almost as difficult, if not more difficult, to make the New Orleans all Metro team than the All state teams. The all Metro teams is picked from all Divisions. Picking the best 11 from Dominican, MCA, Chapelle, Fontainebleau, Mandeville, SSA, Newman, Sacred Heart, Ben Franklin (insert probably another 4 schools or so) etc....I just think the pool of players who receive as much publicity as the players in the New Orleans area gets...it is harder to make the metro team than the state team which is grouped by division. Also I'm curious how each player is chosen. Are they nominated? Is it all based on reputation? I mean there are maybe 2 writers for the Times-Pic that cover girls soccer..they can't possibly watch enough games to choose an all metro team that has much weight with it. Lets also remember these teams are highly subjective and don't really reflect the the true value of each player in the state. It is a great honor, but it isn't the end of the world for those that don't get picked. I'd also like to suggest that since the Northshore schools are included in a New Orleans Metro group, a 1st team and 2nd team should be chosen. I'm sure every year players are left off the list that should be honored. It would be nice to see another 11 kids get recognized out of the 1000 or so that play high school soccer.
