Has anyone gone to the Courier with the idea of selecting an All-Bayou Region Team?
Maybe select X-number of offensive players (maybe 5-7) and x-number of defensive players (maybe 5-7) and 1 keeper from the following districts/schools:
Div. I, Dist. 7 H.L. Bourgeois, Central Lafourche, Ellender, South Lafourche, South Terrebonne, Terrebonne, Thibodaux
Div. II, Dist. 3 Morgan City
Div. II, Dist. 6 Vandebilt Catholic
Div. III, Dist. 8 Houma Christian, E.D. White
Seems like most regions (and their local publications) have gotten on the bandwagon with having teams like this surface in abundance this year.
Any ideas/thoughts???

I am not sure about the Courier but,I know that Joe McCann of Houma TV will consider posting a ballot for next season. He set the ball in motion by posting an All-Bayou basketball ballot this season.

I don't think the Courier's reports know or watch enough soccer to accurately select such a team. No offense to them because they are doing a great job of starting to cover more soccer games, and their knowledge of the game has certainly gone up over the years, however, I don't feel they are too that compacity yet.

Well, whatever outlet would take this up would be great for the players.
If the coaches supported this by supplying information, it could be another achievement for hard-working individuals.
In St. Charles Parish, the local papers covered virutally ZERO (yes, 0) of our games all season...yet an All-River Parishes team is selected. It basically consists of members of river parish schools' all-district players. Of course, not every all-district player. Some choices are head-scratchers, I think whatever newspaper puts out the team just reviews the local all-district teams and selects from there.

Tigertail, the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Call, write & e-mail the paper requesting coverage. Get others to do the same. Once the paper figures that they get more numbers sold by putting soccer info in, it will be in there. Get advertisers to request soccer coverage. Report scores and details. Here in Cenla most of our high school coaches call in the scores of every game to the TV and paper, and occaisionally the Town Talk will actually send a reporter to a game. Then you have the problem of someone with little knowledge of the game reporting on it, but it get's better as they learn.

I sent a personal invitation to attend via mail (along with a copy of our schedule), and phoned our local paper prior to the season. The problem is our paper doesn't have a regular sports writer. People contribute from time to time. We phone our scores to papers, etc. Trust me, it's not from a lack of effort on our part.
I think the Times-Picayune River parishes location does the river parish team. But here in St. Charles, sports coverage has been sparce for all sports, not just soccer.
Back on subject...
I don't think it's a coverage issue. I think if the coaches provided info regarding all-district players and their stats, pretty much anyone could choose an all-whatever team from a list of players if certain criteria is taken into account.
