northshore is going to see some of the best games coming up this year with SSA going to top division. Only unfortunate thing could be that there is no real rivalry among the players, most of whom play for Mandeville SC during the "regular" season. I don't see Fontainbleu getting it all their own way.

Furriner......That couldn't be more off base, saying that there is no rivalry. The games verse club mates and best friends mean the most. SSA and FHS weren't playing for a district championship last year and if you would've saw the game you'd know how bad those girls wanted to win. I hope I get a chance to watch them play this year when something is actuallly on the line besides pride.

It will also be interesting to see how D'Town and St. Amant fare in the river parishes district with Hahnville, Lutcher, et. al. BR area district [old 4 -- not sure if it's still the same] should be a race between BR High and SJA. My buddy from D'Town tells me that SJA had some new contributors in the 7 v. 7 tournament, which they apparently won [beating D'Town I think in the finals -- not sure of score].

In DII Neville should be dominant up here in Nort Loosiana. They lose all state center mid Alex Loomis, but keep all state forwards Crews & Sander, and defender Cheneweiuo(I can't remember the strange name, but she's big and fast), and with STM and SSA moving up, they could easily win state this year. I suspect Cenla will be down this year. Pineville moves to D1, and they couldn't compete in D2. They have had a nice group at the recent soccer camp this week. ASH lost 6-7 seniors and the coach, but the asst takes over and will begin rebuilding. No one knows if Tioga's coach will return, but star striker Burlew will be a senior. Deridder loses one Coronel, but replaces her with an extremly talented younger Coronel. Sam Houston lost some top flight talent, but has lots of skill returning. Leesville is improving, but Peabody still has a new program with trouble even getting 11 on the pitch. Menard and Bolton have done passably well in D3. The D1 rec team, which was a combo of many local teams, Deridder, Bolton, Menard, Tioga, Leesville, etc. showed that there are some excellent players inthe area, but none of the high school teams are loaded. If I had to guess I'd say Deridder-SH-Tiogie-ASH-Leesville_Peabody.
With the paring down of the playoff bracket to 16 teams, D2D2 will put only the first and second place teams in, with little chance of getting one of the 2 wildcards. Then we always get stuck with Neville due to location, so little chance of getting thru 2nd round. I hope to be surprised this year by some teams coming out strong, and perhaps with the experience of D1 rec some girls will show lots of improvement. I look forward to some cooler weather.

Mung, interesting review of the Central Louisiana teams. Enjoyed your rundown on the teams. Why is there a question about Tioga's coach? Why wouldn't he be returning?

I've just heard that he is burned out. He skipped the spring rec season for the first time in many years, so perhaps he'll be back rested and ready for fall. He brings a very competitive edge to local soccer, so I hope he sticks it out.

Parkway will be defensively strong again this year with the return of most of their team. They only had three graduate last year. Mary Lauren Wheelahan is a very strong defensive player as is Allison Deselle. Amber Salvucci should be in the goal for most games, although she was Parkway's top scorer last year as well, but she plays a dominant position as goalie. Hopefully the rest of the offense will pick up as most of them have been playing club ball. It should be an interesting season!

Just checked the boards for the first time since playoffs and thought I had better set the record straight for Tioga. Coach finally took my advice and took a "spring break". Life has been a little too calm though, and he is now chomping at the proverbial bit. I guess the Lady Indians will be looking for scalps with an English leader again this year. I, however, have handed in my clipboard and hung up the coaching boots, trading them for much more rewarding pursuit.......grandchildren! Good luck to everyone this year and I'll be checking in from time to time.
P.S. We will still be holding the Lady's Choice Soccer Tournament in December and are now looking for teams. We learned a lot from our first tournament last year and will be following guidelines that give the standard points for wins, losses and ties.

Well, I'm glad to see that I was wrong on that prediction, as good coaching at Tioga leads to better soccer all around here in Cenla. I anxiously await some cool weather and some good soccer. Thanks for the response Debbie.

To Mung about Neville I agree they will be strong. But you have completely left out Parkway High.Last year they had 2 sophomore forwards.Along with many other young players. There defense will be strong again with Senior goalie Amber Salvucci and other strong players In which the finial meeting Neville won 1-0 in the closing minutes of the game.So lets not count out the competition for North Louisiana.Should make for a very exciting state playoffs.Since they are now in different districts and the #1 seed of each district are in different sections of the brackets.

Mary Lauren has been playing forward on her club team this fall and is doing a great job. With her speed she could add a little more spark to the offense.

I agree that Terri has a great program at Parkway. With Neville being put in a newly formed district in NE LA - and looking at the new brackets I thing Parkway playing tough will get them to the finals. The bracket is much smaller for Div II this year and with the changes will put Neville, Vandebilt Cath, and several other strong, traditional programs in the lower bracket leaving Parkway with a good chance. We had the luck of the draw last year not being in the same bracket as STM and SSA and it helped us reach the finals! Good Luck to all on the upcoming season!

Tiger Dad, pre season ranking for Div II??? I'd place Neville in top three for sure, maybe top 2. I think timing is right for your team. Will Teurlings Girls be a contender like the boys?

Yes, looking at the brackets, we may have it a little easier. I would be great to make it to the final two, but I hope our ladies just take it one game at a time!
Good luck on your season, I know that yaull will do great!
