Question for the board

Watched the BR Cap game Saturday night. Tony Judice of the Cap's was taken down 24 yards from goal. No call. Fans yelled, of course, and coached yelled "where's the foul". CR runs from the 18 to the coaches box, 4-5 yards off the field, and yells at coach to "shut up". Points finger in face.

Very unprofessional IMO. Why is he listening to a coach 40 yards away?

I was taught not to listen to fans, coaches, etc., (unless interfering with match). Was I taught wrong?

Otherwise, an excellent game by the CR.

Let me address the question of "should a referee be listening to players, coaches, etc". I would suggest the answer is yes. Players, spectators, coaches can provide valuable information that may be used in player management and dealing with potential future incidents. Those comments will let a referee know the emotions of players and perhaps provide some insight on incidents not seen. The referee cannot deal with incidents not seen but will be provided information on potential repercussions that could occur later.

Let's also remember that players, coaches, spectators and referees all have a different perspective on the game. They have a different view and a different feel. A comment that a player has been fouled or some other way disadvantaged may not really hold water, but the feedback from the various parties involved may set the tome for future actions and reactions.

Agreed that feedback, communication, etc., is always good, but the BR coach was up on the 1 occassion, with what looked like to everyone in attendance was an obvious foul. Now if the coach was constantantly berating the official, like in backetball or baseball, or even Lou Holz, the worst ever, then that would be different. Or if Judice had flopped, but he never did. Even when Brilla leaned on him heavily, no flop by Tony. He fought clean & choulder to shoulder all the way.

And Peters was worth the price of admission. His battles while man marked by the tall Trinadian were something to see.

But for the CR to sprint off the field . . . ??

Well, my fav up & coming ref, Sir Alex, did miss one off-side call, but he is forgiven.
