The State Referee Committee (SRC) is seeking nominations for the 2008 youth referee of the year. The SRC will award one male and one female this award. As a recipient, the selected individuals will automatically be extended an invitation to the 2009 Regional Competition in North Texas next summer. The invitation to regionals cannot be extended to grade 9 referees.
Eligible individuals need to be a referee under the age of 18 by years end. They should be active referees also having a resume that includes off the field activities with their church, school, etc. Referees may be nominated by an individual, club, referee association, etc. If you have an individual who may be a worthy candidate to consider, please send me a message and I will give you further information.
This is the blurb from USYSA:
The annual Young Referee of the Year award honors those who have a strong work ethic, knowledge of the rules of the game and are positive role models
Through the Young Referee of the Year program, US Youth Soccer helps foster the development of referees for the future of soccer in the United States. Many of the leagues around the country would not be able to cover all of their games but not for the involvement of youth referees. The national Male and Female Young Referees of the Year is announced at the US Youth Soccer Awards Gala, as a part of the US Youth Soccer adidas Workshop.
The Young Referee of the Year recipients are awarded for their dedication to the game, their outstanding personal accomplishments, serving as role models to other youth referees and players, and for their excellence as recognized by their adult referee peers and mentors.
