Here's what's going on. I live and work several states away but hibernate in Louisiana for the winter. Last year I got permission and worked there in a guest status and decided I would be down there for the entire time for this season. So for the past 8 months or so I've been in contact with a few folks down there. I also got a friend of mine (another experienced referee that runs) to want to come down and work the season with me.
Fast forward to right now. We've already taken our clinic and test in another state (in the middle of our season now). We plan on getting down to LA around Nov 9. I've got one gentleman telling me that all we'd have to do is pay the state registration fee and take the test, and another saying that the state is making clinics mandatory for work.
I don't mind having to attend the clinic (although I'd have to fly in for one day on the 20th), take the test, and pay the state registration fee (that's expected anyways)....I just need to know who has the absolute last word in approving referees so that I can do this legally, the right way, so myself and another willing experienced referee can go down there and work outdoors this winter instead of indoor (which we hate).
Please help us out with any information you can give me. I already talked with Bob Wertz.
