Effective Jan 1, LSA has changed substitution rules. The reason for the change was to comply with Region 3 rules. These rules will be the same as most of the states in the region use as well as regionals, RPL, etc.
The new rule: (straight form LSA policy)
Substitutions shall be unlimited, however the 50% play rule shall be followed for Recreational teams. Substitutions may be made with the consent of the referee, at the following times:
1.Prior to a throw-in in your favor.
2. Prior to a goal kick by either team.
3. After a goal by either team.
4. After an injury by either team when the referee stops play.
5. At half time.
6. When the referee stops play to caution a player, only the cautioned player may be substituted prior to the restart of the game.
This rule will be required to be followed for all Premier League games, Premier friendlies, State Cups, and any state sanctioned tournament. With regard to Recreational and Division I games, the recently passed substitution policy is mandatory only for D1 State Cup games and Invitational tournaments, unless an exception has been approved by LSA. It is not mandatory for in-house league games, inter-club league games (e.g., Metro League) or friendly games involving D1 and/or Rec. teams.
