Everyone wants a hard and fast rule..until it affects THEM adversely. I've never seen THAT before. Doesn't affect me at all! It affects CHILDREN! My eldest is playing in college getting a degree for FREE! My youngest is playing on a fine oiled machine and is having a great time enjoying a few college nods as an 8th grader. Does that make the argument better now since it's not my child or personal gain I'm fighting for? No it affected this child in this case. Had this rule not been in existence and a team that your younger childs "fine oiled machine" would have to play against went and grabbed up 3-4 players through unregulated transfer (no, that's never happened before.....) and beat them, then you might have a different tune.
I would expect that someone with such an extensive soccer mom resume would know that the best way to deal with LSA's perceived inability to get things done would be to get everything done way early.....and especially around the Christmas holidays.
Your problem isn't the rule, its the way you feel it was administered in this case. That doesn't make it a problem for all children. Just this one in this case. Its unfortunate, but in this case its a 10 year old--who will not get to play on her (or her parents, or the coach in questions) "team of choice" for one season because LSA and its voting members choose to regulate player movement as a means to keep a level playing field. And they do so because there's ALWAYS somebody with an "its not fair to ME" exception. I'm disappointed LSA didn't do a better job of informing everyone statewide of their office hours. I applaud them for sticking to the rule. This will pass and the player wont cave in because they don't get to play where they want for one spring season

3balz--the daily updates you have provided us have been fantastic. it has changed this board and made LA HS soccer better
I do have a point of order for everyone:
Christ Episcopal in D IV is NOT eligible for post season play due to not playing for district honors. The team occupying the #25- Christian Life--will make the playoffs. Each team in D IV from 19 on down will all move up one place

The first District tiebreaker is head to head result. AC won 4-1 vs Dunham. This was confirmed by a phone conference yesterday amongst the coaches. AC was listed as the official District champ on the LHSAA qualification form turned in by the District Chairperson. There are no more co-champions as this was an issue last year that got clarified by LHSAA Last year power ratings were used to determine District champ as the head to head result between Runnels and Dunham was a tie

hard fought back and forth game. Crusaders were motivated and AC was flat. CLA scored first, with AC answering immediately. 1-1 at half. CLA came out and scored 15 seconds into the second half, with AC answering only 3 minutes later. Game went back and forth for a while until CLA capitalized on an AC misplay in front of the goal with 15 left to go ahead 3-2. AC's Bohdi Linton hit the upright with a free kick with about 7 left, but that was about it for scoring chances the rest of the way.

AC comes up big with a 4-1 win vs Dunham to win the district. Game was very physical from the outset with some hard play and tackles both ways. AC scored first from distance by Ian Carter, with Dunham coming up with the equalizer in the ensuing scrum off a long throw into the box. AC quickly pulled ahead on a Carter to Logan St Pierre through ball to go up 2-1 at halftime. After some rough play and a few cards either way, AC grabbed their 3rd after a Dunham foul just outside the box. Bohdi Linton put the ball down quickly and played a short pass to an unmarked Carter who slotted it home for 3-1. Soon after this goal, and not long after the kickoff a Dunham player was sent off after he deliberately fouled St Pierre as he was trying to put pressure on the GK who had already collected the ball. Just was unnecessary, but was a surprising red. The game got chaotic after the red, with Dunham sending players forward and lots of fouls by both teams. Dunham seemed to be having most of the possession for about a 10 minute stretch when a Dunham player fouled Carter from behind. Initially the official signaled incorrectly for a Dunham freekick, and in the ensuing mayhem from the sidelines realized his mistake and awarded the kick back to AC. Carter quickly put the ball in play to a wide open St Pierre on the opposite side of the field who dribbled in on a breakaway, only to be denied by the onrushing Dunham GK on a very nice save. The rebound bounced off a Dunham defender and right to Linton who was following up the play who calmly played it into the goal for 4-1. Again chaos ensued from the sideline as the Dunham bench felt the centers initial error and subsequent reversal put them at a disadvantage. The game restarted with AC just sitting back and Dunham sending all its players forward. Linton received a yellow towards the end of the 8 minutes of extra time for dissent but the Lions held firm and took the win and the district title.
Im so very proud of my young AC Lion team for the hard work they have put in over the last few years as we have built our program. To win a district title in our third year of Varsity play is a great reward for their perserverance. AC is the smallest HS in LA participating in Varsity soccer--we are young, coed, and limited on resources. Now we can breathe a bit and know that a first time visit to the playoffs is guaranteed, and keep trying to improve a little bit each day
