It would be nice to say that the game was closer than the score indicated, because Ursuline played hard and deserved more for their effort. Newman's attack was OK but not great, partly due to their too-narrow field - and their first 3 goals came off set pieces. Nonetheless, the score is what it is and was a pretty accurate reflection of the game. Ursuline never put up a serious scoring threat. Thanks to Newman's skillful midfield, UA's 3 strikers were unable to get enough touches to work with. For Newman, senior Alex Todd's hat trick made her the star of the game. 12 minutes in, she scored on a crisp free-header from a left-side corner from Sara Brennan. Her second goal was a bit of a lucky deflection off a well hit 40-yard line-drive free kick at 20-something minutes. In the second half, her third goal was another free kick that she perfectly placed in the top of the net from just outside the area, but it came after what seemed like a pretty soft foul. Newman's final goal came on a defensive goof that Ellie Constantine scooped up just outside the area and calmly planted in the net. Much credit goes to Coach Winston Lewis and the UA girls for fighting hard for the full 80 minutes - as they did all season. (Yep, that's my daughter's team, and I love 'em all!) But the team with the most talent across the board prevailed.

"But the team with the most talent across the board prevailed."
Give your daughter more credit...she negates that comment~ she can go toe to toe w/ any player on Newman's team! I can think of a few others (injured & healthy) that can give them a run for their money. Although, yes, Newman does have more talent than Ursuline.... Congrats on never giving up! I always enjoy watching UA play.......
