not only that, but I have been told told by some wise and venerable instructors and assessors that when a team is fighting among themselves, it only takes one call to unite an angry mob against one person. Any guesses who that one person can become? That one person should make the right call then ;D

You guys need to see East St. John play. I saw players dropping the F-bomb on the coach the refs and anyone else. I have NEVER seen the ESJ players showing dissent to officials. "Mr. Rodney" would have them walking home if they did. Their language may be choice, but if yall would bother to open your eyes and look more than skin deep (yes, pun intended) you would see those kids show a lot less dissent than the subdivision divas that have never been told they have done anything wrong. This may be veering off topic, but there is a special place in Heaven for that man.

Mr Rodney hauls his rec players around in a van to compete wearing t-shirts. My player's respect of ESJ team surprised me - "why would you show up when you know you're gonna lose every game?"
I'm with furriner on this: there a very special place in heaven for Mr. Rodney. It's beyond love of the game - it's about the kids.

First off its Mr Roughneen (pronouced ROCK-nee).
Before we annoit Mr Roughneen St Theresa status, lets remember that his U15 team last year had to be de-activated and broken up prior to State Cup by Soccer Innovations due to numerous complaints be various clubs, tournaments, and officials about thier abusive, disrespectful behavior. A specific episode took place at Strawberry Cup last year where a referee assault took place, theft occurred, along with crowd intimitation and fighting.
That group was just as capable of being disrespectful as the "subdivision divas", and ultimately it cost them thier chance to play.

Interesting thread, and I'm just a mom who expects dignified behavior from my own "angel", to include at the very least total appearance of respect for officials/coach. I wonder if the "explosion" and allowance of dissent by officials might have to do with a crop of up and coming refs who have grown up in this time of "self expression", and therefore being more tolerant of what us older folks consider to be bratty behavior?

To add emphasis,
I refereed a match where the players were awful, awful, awful as far as dissent. I made a few calls they didn't like and they would run their mouths off. After one particular foul, a player got up after his poor slide tackle, screamed "f you... you f'ing suck... learn to do your f'ing job...' and subsequently flipped me the bird with both his hands to add emphasis... Of course he was sent off... That's not the worst part... after the game, his parents approached me and asked why he was given a red card. I told them "Do you really want me to repeat what he said?" They tell me, "Oh, we know what he said, but your call was wrong." Hmm... so because he believed my call was wrong, he's allowed to say that?!?! I hope a state trooper doesn't pull you over and disagree with his reasoning...
Juuuust to further show that parents, coaches, and referees allow a little too much.
