I read acmil's post early this morning after watching our girls take one on the chin last night. I was still sulking a bit but as I told greenfury earlier, the sun still came up. I did however send a PM to acmil. I won't share the details at the risk of defeating the purpose of the "private" piece. I will however, state for the record that I am NOT in favor of the negative bashing on the board and would hope that those of you that have been posting for awhile would not link accmil's post to those of us who passionately support Dutchtown. He or she is allowed his or her opinion and to each his own.

Part II
Lafayette beat Dutchtown last night. Fair and square at home at that. No excuses. Katie Breaux had a hell of a gameplan and we failed to execute. I really thought that Dutchtown had a legitimate chance to play in Shreveport and would have lost money if anyone would have predicted a shutout. Unfortunately(for Dtown) Lafayette came with a plan to isolate our forwards and we played right into thier plan. They won in the midfield all night and up a goal just kept the Griffins out of synch. Having seen every minute this season, it was our worst performance of the year and I attribute that mostly to Lafayette. A few missed opportunities in the 1st half seemed like the beginning at the time, in hind sight it was the beginning of the end. Kudos to the Lady Lions!

jarhead, I am a Lafayette fan and we played Dutchtown in the New Orleans tourney earlier in the year. They have a good team and in NO WAY ducked anyone this season. Lafayette and Dutchtown were scheduled to meet on the last day of the regular season because BOTH coaches wanted a tough game before the playoffs. The weather did not allow that to happen. They traveled away from home to play teams they might struggle with or even lose to. There are teams out there that do just what you stated but Dutchtown is not one of them.

lhssoccer 12, this game was a tale of two different halves. First half was mostly Dutchtown. Dutchtown played long ball and direct style that has been to their strenght for the past two years, and ultimatley their downfall. Dutchtown kept Lafayette on their defending half, but failed to put anything in the net. What I noticed from the first half to the second was how the Dutchtown defense did a great job of challenging and not allowing very many balls through to the forwards. Lafayette did have greater possession, but the 3/5 passes they strung together were either switching the field or back passing, atleast in the first half. Their balls into the attacking half were intercepted by good stepping or just losing possession from good physical challenging. Possession in this game favored Lafayette, but that is their style and claim to fame. Dutchtown's attack reslults in no more than 3 passes a most, ever. If the underclassman would pick their heads up on the attack, Dutchtown would have scored some easy goals. This is a guess, but I would think that the success that Dutchtown had over Lafayette in their first meeting, was the running of a flat back four, over the stopper sweeper system that Lafayette ran of late. Lafayette did do a great job of "bending but not breaking" all game.
Second half started much the same as the first half, but the GK mistake that resulted in the first goal, was the game changer. Dutchtown as I was told had never trailed all year, so unventured territory or them. The adjustments that Lafayette made after the goal made it harder for Dutchtown to score, but Dutchtown made it harder to score themselves. Their direct style, launch it forward worked against them, and Lafayette defense mopped it up. The second goal was the result of good movement of the ball on the counter. Howver Dutchtown reversed their idea of not allowing Lafayette forwards any space nor time on the ball in the first half, rather they gave too much time, and too much space, thus allowing Lafayette's attack to turn, play the ball and forcing the Dutchtown defense to chase, this is what created the increase in chances and beter possession. Dutchtowns attack was obvious, and once Lafayette went up, easily to defend, especially since the balls to Dutchtown forwards were in the air, not to feet. I saw only one ball that switched the run of play the entire second half, and it produced a shot on goal. The Lafayette defense simply stepped and went on the attack. Simple soccer.
The GK mistake was the turning point of the game, although Lafayette GK almost returned the favor with a near mishandle in the second half. However this was exactly what Lafayette needed to institute a plan to hold onto the win. Well done Katie!
In response to the comments of sokerfan, I concur, neither of these teams avoided competetive teams. In fact, you can count on both teams to look for better teams to play. Look at both teams records, the proof is right there.

Good reviews- glad we are moving away from personal attacks - likely someone jealous of the coaches position.
DTHS had been behind at least one occassion this yr to STM in the St. Amant tourn. other than that, likely very few other times, if any.
Much more enjoyable game than the DTHS boys game yesterday.
As for schedules - I would imagine both teams have the top 5 toughest schedules in the state.
