Upon a non-serious injury of a player, it is not necessary for the players to kick the ball out. The referee has the power to stop play at any time for injuries. When a player goes down with an injury that does not require immediate attention then play should continue, especially if the attacking team is nearing the goal. So many times the players, coach, and/or parents start yelling "kick the ball out". This is what's done at the U10 level of play, not high school. As a coach of various sports, I never have my players or athletes "take a knee" when an injured player is being tended. When the body stops moving, the muscles cool. The players should continue to walk around, never stop and sit on the ground. This again can be attributed to U10 level of play. Coaches who don't know about muscles and movement should read a book on kinesiology. Having this knowledge can help alleviate injuries.
