Okay folks. Playoffs are about to start, so good luck to everyone in their coming matches. Time to pick our performance up a notch as well. And remember to have a good time! As we read in the girls thread, only us, lhsAa, and the cops make money (haha).

As we read in the girls thread, only us, lhsAa, and the cops make money (haha). The referees should all read the overtime procedures for the playoffs. It is different than regular district games. I hate to say it but it seems like every year there is at least one game where the officials simply get something wrong when there is no excuse. All officials should make a point to sit down for an hour and review the High School Rule Book. I'm not talking about judgment calls here but the rules that define what is done in certain situations in a game if something unusual happens. When the officials in one game misapply a administrative rule it reflects poorly on all officials.

I hate to bring this up, but this is a major bone of contention for me. I really hate it when people say, "you should make you know x, y or z". Please, just tell us what we need to know. don't tell us what things used to be, but now they are different. just tell us what we need to do for this coming week and for the rest of the playoffs.

Two 10 minute periods played in their entirety, if the score is still tied then two five minute periods with golden goal. A coin flip is required at the beginning of the two separate overtime series.

Don't forget the shootout after the 2 fives if no goal.

so, anybody know what the playoff rules are, and are willing to share with the rest of us? Is this sort of like asking someone to lend you their class notes because you went out the night before and decided it wasn't necessary to attend class that day. ;D almost. some areas have extra clinics to cover playoffs: some do not. Just wanted someone to make sure were all on the same page.

I think I refereed the only playoff game to play today. Very wet, messy field. That filed will not be good for the rest of the playoffs. Standing water along both touch lines, in both goals, and all through the middle of the field. Anyone heading to Fontainebleau for future games needs to bring their studs as turfs won't cut it.

Ok refs! Please please make sure you know the rules! Our game yesterdaywent to pks. A studder step was called( by the AR), goal denied and no retake was allowed. This caused a big scene that could have been avoided if the referee would have been known! After discussion, it was decided that the kick could be retaken, but not by the original kicker because she should have been cautioned. No caution was ever given and there had been 5 kicks since her original kick! Like I said, all of this could \have been avoided if it was handled right from the first call!

Stutter steps are allowed as long as the player doesn't come to a complete stop.

Stutter steps are allowed as long as the player doesn't come to a complete stop. Just a wording issue happy, referring to page 82 and 62 in the rules book, don't think "stutter stepping" or "he/she may not interrupt his/her movement" are allowed. Result, caution and retake by another player. Cautioned player may not kick again until the next set of 5 (Page 86) mckinleygirlscoach, referees make mistakes. I'm not exactly sure what happened, however, I can promise to make sure the crew does the best job possible in the match Tuesday. Good luck.

Stutter steps are not interrupting the movement. As long as you don't come to a complete stop you are within the rules of the nfhs
