The Shell Shockers will have there final pre-season game tomorrow at 7p.m. Vs. Christian Brothers @ Muss Bertolino. The Shell Shockers have had a very successful pre-season and the team looks very solid. From what I have seen, I think this may be the best Shell Shocker team yet, barring injuries. They have some notible returnees plus 4 outstanding high school players. The Shell Shockers are solid from 1 through 20.

They should be adding several college players to this roster in the next several weeks. The college players are just finishing their Spring season and should be ready to step in and contribute nicely. I believe that they are out the second week of May. 4 High school players with Shell Shockers Jeff Romig, Stephen Duncan, Mike Mestayer & Jarret Gautreau Sounds like a pretty solid group... I knew Gautreau was on the team, but the others are pretty impressive as well.

I read it as though it was the first PDL game of the season. I may be wrong.

Archibald, your earlier comment at top of the page.
"barring no injuries" Does this mean you want injuries? Do you mean "barring injuries"?? I need to know an answer to this immediately, or I will begin legal proceedings. Your cavalier attitude is playing with young mens bodies. Not good, and I for one will not stand for it. I'll see you and your muggers in court.

Listen hear Pompey, are you off your trolley tryin' to mug me in front of all my pals. You just worry about being dealt with this weekend, awright. I tell you what, you win a couple of games and it goes straight to your thick skull. You better get on your Jack Jones mate, because we're after ya.
Sincerely
'Ard Core

I was looking on the Shocker website under "our team" and as of today, the only two high school players listed are Pablo and Chris. What is up? I know that the site was updated on Saturday, because it changed completely from the former site and it had the new players like Duaine Jones on it. Also, I was reading that the rules for PDL from the USL website and it states that " Teams may register a maximum of 26 players." "A minimum of 14 and a maximum of 18 must dress for each game". These are the part of the minimum standards that are accepted by USL. The current roster listed on the website has 23 players without the 4 high school players listed. That leaves one player out of the mix and that doesn't count any college players not listed on the current roster. Anyone know who is coming in from college and for what school.

Nothing is final yet with regards to the team roster. Rosters can be changed on a weekly basis. The team that is posted is to allow the fans an idea who is involved with the team. There are other requirements that the team must adhere with game day rosters. A game day roster only allows eight over 23's, 5 internationals, and 2 Under 18's must dress out. A player could count against 2 of these requirements i.e. Pablo Araya could be 25 years old and is an international. There are a number of other issues. The most common are injuries and players coming and going, so it is also good to keep a healthy squad. Some of the younger guys probably won't see too much playing time especially in the beginning of the season. However, being around quality all the time will only make them better when they go off to there respective schools in the Fall and the young ones understand that. There will be a few collegiate players who come into the squad after their semester ends but will not be signed immediately due to the lack of game fitness. The Shell Shockers will try to play 3 tune up games before the season begins on May 6th at Laredo.

You are right on the numbers with your info. One exception to what you said about the college players not being match fit. I know that two schools are having their last matches tonight and that another continues to play until the beginning of final week (in some cases next week). I checked one school's website and they have had had eight matches in the last six weeks so I think they are more match fit than the Shockers who have played only three. Also, knowing the college fitness schedule versus what the Shockers do for fitness, the college players will be much more fit so they should be able to compete for a spot. According to KF he has already signed two of the college players and he has them listed on the roster. Thanks for the great info on the USL roster requirements Nothing is final yet with regards to the team roster. Rosters can be changed on a weekly basis.
