The biggest game of the year in the state is the state championship game.
The biggest rivalry in the state is tough to call. I'm sure every area considers their biggest rivalry to be one of the biggest in the state. In Lafayette, it is Acadiana v. Lafayette in DI. Both of those teams are always ranked in the top ten, usually the top 5. The games are always well played, physical and exciting. I don't know the NOLA area as well, but I would imagine that between Jesuit/BM/Rummel a good rivalry exists. I would say that one of the New Orleans rivalries and Lafayette/Acadiana would be the biggest in the state because of where the teams are usually ranked and when/where they usually meet in the playoffs.

I heard another big rivalry game is St. Louis and STA. St. Louis beat them in the Div. III State finals last year.

Seeing that a lot of teams have played in state finals lately, I think those teams will have a rivalry. One game that I loved to watch was the Vandy-Jesuit game, top teams in their divisions facing off. A lot of people start naming rivalries just because it's been going on a while, but I think when 2 whole teams have that urge to win in a big game that's been planned the whole year, that's a rivalry. Some games to consider a rivalry would be perhaps Vandy-BF, Jesuit-BM, Laf.-Acad., maybe even Dtown-Vandy since Dtown is looking for a 1st place spot in the polls. Anything could be considered a rival because we all have love for the game.

two great teams going head to head every year and are usually competing for a district title

the north has one rivalry that i know of, even if the teams arent on top of their games. it is always a hard fought battle between neville and st freds being cross town rivals and that they have played together there wholes lives. it always has bragging rights on the line.
and please no rude remarks about the quality of soccer from these 2 schools.

well just come and watch those 2 teams play again later this season, and you along with probly another 4 or 5 hundred ppl with be astounded with the way both of these mediocre teams step up their play for this rivalry game. isnt that what rivalry games are about. and there was no need to be rude.

captain shreve vs. magnet is a huhe rivalry up north, though i doubt this is the biggest in the the state...there's just a huge passion to win from both teams, and it's most apparent in the magnet vs. shreve game

That would be St. Fredrick vs. OCS in all sports. Especialy in soccer since the games we play determine district champions for our district.

Lafayette vs Acadiana is the biggest rivalry in my opinion. It doesn't matter which sport is being played, these two schools hate each other. When they play in football, schools are broken into, and stuff gets trashed. When they play in soccer it usually determines the district winner and once it determined the state champ. There is no love lost between these schools. Both are constantly trying to one up the other. And this has been going on for decades.

In the north for the past few years the game between loyola and st freds was a huge rivalry. and to correct qdawgOCS, that was the game that decided our district, at least for the past 4 or 5 years. Both teams are always pretty talented (maybe not as talented as the southern teams), and its always a fight to the finish.

Catholic High vs. Jesuit is the biggest bi-district rivalry in the state. With more state championships held between the two schools than any other two teams, this match historically and presently is the greatest rivalry game today.

Usually the big rivals comes from teams in the same area and within district. Each area has big rivals so the true questions is who is the big rivals in the area of state the ylive in. Northeast La, usually Neville and West Monroe are pretty strong rivals. There are many more great rivals within the state. Good luck to each of them....
