Yea, Shreve has two good guys, Stephen Barefield (Sophmore) and John Micheals (Freshman) and Caddo Magnet has Jake Dale (Sophmore), Chris Beason (Sophmore/Goalie), and Eric Johnson (Freshman)

Kevin Carter is probably the best of the Lafayette sophs. Brian Prejean has been really good this year as well. Carter plays up top with Belfour.

The #16 mentioned from Captain Shreve is John Michiels (freshman). Look for good things coming from him. He's a great all around player.
Stephen Barefield (soph - Captain Shreve) is a good player as well. He has a lot of talent and skill. The only problem is he seems to only care about how many goals he's credited with. If this is the case, it will only hurt him and the team in the future.
From Captain Shreve, other young players to watch are Gavin Duncan, Carter Rossett, Mark Norgard, Joseph Fell, Bennett Bynam and Dennis Banks.
Future of Shreve Soccer: They will only graduate 5 seniors this year and only 3 of them are starters. The biggest dent will be in the defense with Donnie Harris and Cody Cowley graduating. Beck will have a new defense to run next year but with the talent coming up, it should be no problem for him to handle.

thanks mcscruff, carter is the guy i knew i was missing. he is very good up top and will make it easier for joey to score, because carter can't be left alone.
i think prejean has proven to be the best sophmore for the lions. he has started all year and has playe well against really good teams. he doesn't get the pub. the others do because he plays defense.

Does anyone besides Caddo Magnet and Shreve start ninth graders on their team in the Top 15 for Division I?
Does Vandy start any freshmen, or are they mostly sophomores?

Lafayette- Kevin Carter, Eric Ellender,
Acadiana- Josh Saboe
Carencro- Josh Menard
Comeaux- Jacob Broussard
I just named the BEST on that team. Lafayette has more but i think Kevin and Eric stand out the most. Josh Menard from Carencro is probably the best out of those. He plays up an age group for the Burn.

All I am hearing about is Lafayette kids. Fury has gone down the toilet, finishing somewhere low in Regional League, so I would expect that Lafreniere and NOSA would have the better sophomores. The NOSA keeper starts for Bro Mart. He is one of the best out there. The Vandy kids are all Lafreniere players. They are very good. Lafreniere has a couple players who play for St. Martin's, who are going to be very good in the next few years. I was just thinking we should not limit ourselves to Lafayette and Shreveport.

i don't have any problem with that "tell me" but i don't know those kids so i can only comment on the ones i know.
hey imnop123, carter and ellender are good but i am sticking with prejean as the best sophmore at lafayette. he plays the whole game and has started all year. people don't notice him as much because he plays defense.

At EA we have 2 freshman (Carey Gautreaux and Kevin Duhe) that get alot of playing time and do a great job of keeping the other team out of our goal.

Hey Goat, I was about to write that Prejean was the best soph on Lafayette, however, I think his play has been slipping a little lately. He hasn't been playing as much and has not started a couple of recent games. I don't know if he is in Belfour's doghouse or if he is a little banged up or what. Mark St. Cyr has been replacing him in the lineup. Without a doubt, if the first half of the season he was the best. He was playing like a senior on that back line. Carter has improved every game this year. The two are probably about even, but I gave the nod to Carter for his continued improved play throughout the year. Ellendar is really good also and has been starting on the wing.

To Tellme,
I don't know much about any New Orleans players. Why don't you tell us about them. I am from Lafayette, therefore the bulk of my knowledge revolves around district 3. Also, it appears that New Orleans players don't contribute to this message board too often. I don't know why that is, but it seems like the majority of the posts are from District 3, North LA, Baton Rouge and Northshore areas. You can blame the lack of posts about NOSA and Lafreniere players on New Orleans' lack of participation in this board.

I have been to the St. Pauls freshman tournaments and I payed attention to CL, but they really have no awesome freshman and no real execelent JV players that stood out in my eyes. CL will probally suck next year bad.

Jarett Gautreaux (sophomore) at Dutchtown has got to be one of the best there is in Division II. Extremly quick, great left foot, and very acurate.
Sebastain Torrado (freshman) at St. Amant has got alot of potential.
Tyler Melancon (sophomore) also at St. Amant is extremly important to our attack. Leading goal scorer for the gators.
